In addition to a number of other products, Apple also presented the new Apple Watch Series 7 at its autumn Keynote yesterday. The latest generation of smart watches from Apple boasts a number of great innovations, such as a larger display with a full-sized keyboard or perhaps faster charging. But today it turned out that they are most likely equipped with the same processor found in last year's Apple Watch Series 6.

The new Apple Watch Series 7 offers – contrary to what the initial speculations stated – rather only a handful of novelties. The most striking and noticeable one is undoubtedly the larger new display, which makes it possible to comfortably work with a full-sized keyboard on the Apple Watch Series 7. The new generation of smart watches from Apple is also thinner, faster charging and significantly longer battery life are among the very welcome innovations. But Apple did not mention once during the Keynote what processor was used in this model, and this information is not even on Apple's official website at the moment. This fact became the basis for speculation about whether the company accidentally reached for the same processor that was used in the Apple Watch Series 6.

These speculations were confirmed today by developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who said that the latest version of Xcode software mentions a CPU labeled "t8301". The processor of last year's Apple Watch Series 6 also carried this label. So it looks like Apple has really, for the first time in its history, proceeded to reuse the same processor for two consecutive generations of one of its products.
