Michal Marek The main point on today's keynote program was the Apple Watch, although it apparently overshadowed it somewhat the new MacBook. Apple has released official information on price, availability and battery life, answering three of the most frequently asked questions about its latest product line.
The Apple Watch will go on sale in three different editions. The cheapest edition of the Apple Watch Sport will cost $349 for the 38mm version, which is almost 9 crowns (in reality, however, Czech prices will always be several thousand higher). The larger 000mm version of this watch will be 42 dollars (roughly 50 crowns) more expensive. Apple Watch Sport is made of special durable aluminum.
The second edition is called Apple Watch, i.e. without an epithet, and here it is a watch of steel construction. They will again be available in two sizes at a price of 549 and 599 dollars, respectively, which is approximately 14 crowns for the smaller and 000 crowns for the larger watch. This is not exactly a popular price, and this is not to say that, depending on the choice of bracelet, the price of a watch from this edition can climb up to 15 dollars, i.e. almost 000 crowns.
Almost beyond the reach of ordinary mortals, watches from the premium Apple Edition aim. Watches of 18 carat gold namely, they start at 10 thousand dollars, which in conversion is roughly 250 crowns.
All watches will offer all-day endurance, which Tim Cook specified to a specific figure - a maximum of 18 hours. The watch will need a special USB cable with a round MagSafe end, which will be enough to attach to the watch face from below, where it will "suck" itself thanks to the magnet and charge the watch. This cable will probably be included in the Apple Watch packaging in a meter version. However, it is already available for purchase separately in the American Apple Store, in two variants. The customer will pay $29 for a meter-long charging cable. A two-meter cable is then $10 more.
The prices of replacement bracelets for the Apple Watch have already been published, and at first glance it can be seen that the price range is really large. Prices start as low as $49 for synthetic rubber sports wristbands. On the contrary, the most expensive is the Link Bracelet metal bracelet, for which the customer will pay 449 dollars. Straps of the given category always cost the same, regardless of whether it is a strap designed for a 38mm or 42mm watch model.
You can find belt variants and the key to finding which size is right for you on the Apple website. The prices of individual tape variants are as follows:
- Sports band: $49
- Milanese loop: $149
- Leather loop: $149
- Classic buckle: $149
- Modern buckle: $249
- Link bracelet: $449
There was no mention of tapes from independent producers at the keynote. However, it is easy to imagine that wristbands for the Apple Watch will be produced anywhere. It will then depend on how attractive, high-quality and affordable tapes the manufacturers come up with. In any case, there is room for an interesting new business.
The watch will be available for pre-order on April 10 and will be available in the first few countries from April 24. The Czech Republic does not appear in the first wave, but Germany does. Czechs will be able to go to Dresden or Berlin for their watches.

Write whatever you want. I was looking at their design and different color and material combinations. I don't need a crystal ball when I predict I'll go like hotcakes….

Suspension only: $500 for a belt? will it be gold plated? or what the hell?
When we rise above the price, I still think why buy it. I'm an Apple fan, but I have to be critical about this. no killer feature appeared.

– notifications ok, but I'm full of them on my phone. So it will beep on my watch and then if I don't have my watch it will beep again on my phone?

You summed it up nicely, that's all. However, I think that it will simply be such a user-friendly and, moreover, well-designed piece that people will buy it in the spirit of the "I must have" idea, just like the first iPhone.
You don't want to send flowers? You're probably not exactly a Gentleman. You can't even survive a day like February 14.2 without hearts and flowers and watches.
And now a bit seriously. Notifications on the watch would be just right for me. I go on long-distance hikes, and it's impractical to constantly pull out your mobile phone from your trouser pocket in the winter when you're packed like a hockey player and from your backpack in the summer just to check incoming SMS or whatever song is playing. Personally, I'll probably get them when they're available and I'll see them live.
Oh, don't worry, if you walk, you have a garmin 920 and you get notifications. 920 can last 5 times as long, plus they have GPS, you can even swim in them

Personally, I understand all the "why buy it anyway?" comments.
But on the other hand, I see in it what is not named one function/application. It is not a notification center as such. From now on, everything (necessary) will be visible and controlled on the wrist. It's not just a hotel room, a car, a television, a household, ...., a wife :)
It's little things and no killer function. But it's the little things that add up
turn it into something that will change your approach to the world again, as the iPhone once did with an application for almost anything. Simply nice Czech "from the couch". :D
PS: The best thing about all of this is that you really don't have to have it. But I think you will start thinking about it in the future.

do you look at your watch when you sleep?
if I'm not mistaken, their great taptic engine is supposed to be used, among other things, to wake up with an alarm... which will go crazy when the watch is on the charger... and otherwise yes, I usually sleep with a watch (Nike FuelBand) on my hand and sometimes need to check the time at night (if it is time to feed the piglet). And even if I were to accept your idea, 18 hours is far from a whole day - just a longer working day and it's a long day, or perhaps a flight to the west and 18 hours in one piece, you don't even know. I assume that 18 hours is also the maximum, if the watch is closed somewhere in a box and you don't want anything from it.
I just wonder how long it will last. I'm looking for something similar when I didn't get what I wanted from the AppleWatch, but on Nike's official website they say that the watch can last 8 hours of use on average
Charge your watch once or twice a day? Dementia non plus ultra. Irrespective of the features/visual and craftsmanship/the fact that tells me that the device actually does almost nothing compared to the iPhone, it begs the question why buy such a compromise?

At least the wireless charging could beat the competition - that charger is horrible.
All your comments are useless until you try the Apple Watch and find out its real functionality. For now, you can talk about them as if they were gods. No one knows if and how it works...
Well, from the official information it is clear that (apart from some extra sensor) it is only a nice overpriced bracelet that is used to keep the iPhone jewelry from being pulled out of the pocket and that does not untie the user, but binds the user with outrageously low endurance... :-(
