Competing brands were the first to enter the smart watch market, including, for example, Samsung with the Galaxy Gear model from 2013. While at the time this segment of wearables (wearable electronics) was rather overlooked, the situation turned around only after 2015. because the very first Apple Watch entered the market. Apple watches gained a significant amount of popularity almost immediately and, together with other generations, significantly moved the entire segment of smart watches forward. To many people it might seem that they don't even have competition.
Apple's lead is starting to disappear
In the field of smart watches, Apple had a fairly significant lead. That is, until Samsung started experimenting and moving its smartwatches forward by leaps and bounds. Even so, it is evident that even the users themselves rather favor Apple watches, which can be seen by looking at the market share statistics. For example, in the first quarter of this year, Apple occupied the first place with a share of 33,5%, while Huawei took second place with 8,4% and then Samsung with 8%. From this it is evident who probably has the upper hand in something. At the same time, we can say with certainty that the larger market share in the case of the Apple Watch is definitely not due to price. On the contrary, it is higher than in the case of the competition.
It is also interesting that in terms of functions, Apple is paradoxically a bit behind. While competing watches already offer measurement of oxygen saturation in the blood or blood pressure, sleep analysis and the like, the Cupertino giant only added these options in the last 2 years. But even that has its justification. Although Apple may implement some functions later, it makes sure that they work as well and simply as possible.
The arrival of competition
While browsing the discussion forums, you can still come across opinions according to which the Apple Watch is still miles ahead of its competition. Looking at current models from other brands, however, it is clear that this statement is slowly ceasing to be true. A great proof is the latest watch from Samsung, Galaxy Watch 4, which is even powered by the operating system Wear OS. In terms of the possibilities themselves, they have noticeably moved forward and can thus be seen as a perfect competitor for the Apple Watch at half the price. However, it will be more interesting to see where the watches of other brands, especially those from Samsung, will be able to move in the coming years. The more they can match or even surpass the Apple Watch, the greater the pressure will be on Apple, which can generally help in the development of the entire smart watch segment.
If the Apple Watch didn't have any competition, then the battery will definitely last in the lousy one. I've never seen that with any competitor anywhere. I had brand new ones and after 4 months I was very relieved to get rid of them. And until the Apple Watch catches up with the competition in this, I don't even want to hear about them :-)
I don't understand that the flashlight is always being solved endlessly. Previously, people's phones lasted a week or more on a charge, now the phone lasts 1-2 days and no one complains. So I don't understand why it should be a problem to simply put a watch on the charger in the same 1-2 days.
