Already last Friday Apple he promised, that it will release iOS 12.1.4 this week, which will fix a critical security flaw plaguing Group FaceTime calls. As the company promised, it happened and a new secondary version of the system in the form of an update was released for all users a little while ago. Along with this, Apple has also released a supplementary macOS 10.14.3 update that addresses the same issue.

You can download the new firmware in Settings -> In general -> updates software. The installation package is only 89,6MB for the iPhone X, which just goes to show how minor the update is. Apple itself states in the notes that the update brings important security updates and is recommended for all users.

In the case of macOS, you can find the update in System Preferences -> Software update. Here, the rollup update reads 987,7 MB in size.

About a serious security flaw in FaceTime informed foreign websites for the first time at the beginning of last week. The vulnerability was that through group calls it was possible to eavesdrop on other people without their knowledge. The microphone was already active when ringing, not after receiving the call. Apple immediately deactivated the service on the side of its servers and promised to fix it soon.

The error was first discovered by a 14-year-old boy who repeatedly tried to point it out directly to Apple. However, the company did not respond to any of his notices, so finally the boy's mother alerted foreign websites. Only after the media coverage did Apple take action. He subsequently apologized to the family and promised the boy a reward from the Bug bounty program for the discovery.
