Yesterday, Apple released new beta versions of its operating systems for registered developers. As for iOS, this is the second beta of iOS 17.3. But she didn't quite succeed. This proves how important such testing programs are.

iOS 17.3 brings an interesting feature like Stolen Device Protection. Of course, it is supposed to improve the performance and stability of the iPhone itself. But her installation of the second beta version of the system also brought one major error. Many iPhone owners who have installed the second iOS 17.3 beta have found their device stuck in a boot loop showing only a black screen with a stuck loading wheel.

The issue can be resolved by rolling back to iOS 17.2.1, but those who haven't backed up may have significant issues with the recovery process. However, it should be noted that not all iPhones running iOS 2 beta 17.3 have issues. There is information that this happens only with those iPhones that have the Back Tap gesture set, i.e. tapping on the back of the iPhone.

However, Apple responded quite quickly. Just three hours after the release of the update, he preferred to download it. Until they solve the problem, developers will not be able to install it.

The importance of beta testing

This all goes to show how important beta testing is. Since it was a developer version, it didn't even reach public testers because the bug was caught earlier. Logically, it also did not reach the general public, when without these procedures it could easily happen and Apple would disable our devices in this way.

But at the same time, it shows that ordinary iPhone users should not engage in beta testing, as they may face similar dangers in the future. It is also worth reminding here that if you are in the beta test, never install a new version of the system on the primary device. And last but not least, back up your devices before every update!
