There has been talk of a location tracker from Apple since last year. At that time, it was assumed that the company would present it at its autumn Keynote, but this did not happen in the end. Analysts nevertheless agree that sooner or later the pendant will really see the light of day. A recent video uploaded by Apple itself to the official Apple Support channel on YouTube also suggests this. You can no longer find the video on the server, but the authors of the blog managed to notice it appleosophy.

Among other things, the video showed a shot of Settings -> Apple ID -> Find -> Find iPhone, where the box was Search for offline devices. Below this box was a verbatim mention that this feature enables find this device and AirTags even when it is not connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data network. The AirTag locator pendant is intended to represent competition for the very popular Tile accessories. These are used to make it easier for users to find objects - keys, wallets or even luggage - to which these pendants are attached, using their mobile devices.

The first indications that Apple is preparing to release location tags appeared in the code of the iOS 13 operating system last year. Locator tags should be integrated into the native Find app, where they will most likely be given their own tab called Items. If the user moves away from the object equipped with a pendant, a notification may appear on their iOS device. With the help of the Find application, it should then be possible to play a sound on the tag to make it easier to find the item. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expressed his belief in January of this year that Apple should introduce its location tags called AirTags in the first half of this year.
