The Shot on iPhone XS campaign received another interesting addition. This takes the form of a short documentary about the Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme, which demonstrates the advanced camera capabilities of iPhones. The eight-minute video was shot underwater and is directed by Sven Dreesbach. Since this is not a tutorial, a more precise description of how the document was created is missing.

The iPhones, with the help of which the documentary was filmed, were apparently protected by special cases, preventing the devices from being damaged by salty sea water. The latest models of smartphones from Apple can survive immersion to a depth of two meters for thirty minutes, but in the case of filming, the conditions were much more demanding.

When introducing the iPhone XS, Chief Marketing Officer Phil Schiller said that if users drop their new iPhone into an ordinary swimming pool, there is almost nothing to worry about - just fish the device out of the water in time and let it dry perfectly. In theory, salt water shouldn't be a problem either - Schller described that the smartphone's resistance was tested not only in chlorinated water, but also in orange juice, beer, tea, wine, and salt water.

The Maldives Whale Shark Research Program (MWSRP), which is discussed in the short documentary, is a charitable organization engaged in research into the life of whale sharks and their conservation. The responsible team monitors selected animal species, such as whale sharks, using a special iOS application. In the documentary, we can see both close-up shots from below the sea level, as well as shots of the open sea, MWSRP workers and their research objects.
