American National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) accused Apple of failing to take precautions against the use of iPhones while driving by employees. Rshe reacted so to the fact that a certain engineer Walter Huang lost his life in 2018 after not paying attention to driving, relying only on his Tesla's autopilot and spending time playing a video game on his company phone.

Huang died in 2018 after his Tesla Model X's autopilot missed an obstacle and the car crashed into a highway barrier at 114 km/h. He then ran into Teslaa two other cars, damaging its battery and causing it to burst into flames. Huang succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. Investigators classified the poor Apple employee as a distracted driver, of parts, however, blame Apple and Tesla for neglecting measures that would have prevented the incident could have been prevented.

Tesla is blamed for the failure autopilot, who did not see the obstacle, did not warn the driver in time and did not activate the automatic brakes. Council vice-chairman Bruce Landsberg said the Autosteer function was completely inadequate, although it was designed to keep the car better on narrow roads or him on the highway at high speeds she maintained within lane limits. The Autopilot feature has also been criticized for being more of a marketing gimmick and requiring users to continue paying attention to driving.

Tesla Autopilot is classified as a Level 2 out of 5 automated system, with the car requiring no assistance at the highest level. NTSB Chairman Robert Sumwalt said Huang used the system as if it were fully automated. Addressing Apple, he added that the company is a leader in the field of technology, but when it comes to internal rules regarding the prohibition of using a mobile phone while driving, the company apparently does not have such rules.

In its defense, Apple said it expects its employees to follow the law. The company also offers the feature on the iPhone Do Not Disturb While Driving, which prevents the possibility of using the phone while driving. However, this function is preset like offá and users have to activate it manually.
