Last week we wrote about it, how a group of Google security experts helped uncover a serious flaw in iOS security in February of this year. The latter allowed penetration into the system only with the help of a specific website, the visit of which initiated the download and execution of a special code that sent various data from the attacked device. In a somewhat unusual way, Apple commented on the whole situation today via Press Releases, as alleged unsubstantiated news and false information began to spread around the web.

In this press release, Apple claims that what Google experts describe in their blog is only partially true. Apple confirms the existence of bugs in iOS security, due to which it was possible to attack the operating system without authorization through a specific website. However, according to the company's statement, the problem was definitely not as extensive as Google's security experts claim.

Apple states that these were site units that were capable of such sophisticated attacks. This was not a "massive attack" on iOS devices, as claimed by Google's security experts. Despite the fact that it was a relatively limited attack on a very specific group (the Uighur community in China), Apple does not take such things lightly.

Apple is refuting claims by experts who said it was a massive abuse of a security flaw that allowed the private activities of huge swaths of the population to be monitored in real time. The attempt to scare iOS device users by being able to track them through their device is not based on truth. Google further claims that it was possible to use these tools over a period of more than two years. According to Apple, however, it was "only" two months. In addition, according to the company's own words, the correction took only 10 days from the time it learned about the problem - when Google informed Apple about the problem, Apple's security experts had already been working on the patch for several days.

At the end of the press release, Apple adds that development in this industry is essentially a never-ending battle with windmills. However, users can rely on Apple that the company is said to be doing everything to make their operating systems as secure as possible. They will allegedly never stop with this activity and will always try to offer the best possible service to their customers.
