Record sales of iPhones for the last fiscal quarter, it did not "only" give Apple the largest turnover in the company's history, which it also happens to be the largest turnover in the history of any corporation, but also probably the first among phone sellers. According to analysis according to the prestigious analyst firm Gartner, in the fourth quarter of last year, Apple became the largest smartphone manufacturer. With its nearly 75 million iPhones sold, it narrowly surpassed second-placed Samsung.

Gartner credited Samsung with selling 73 million smartphones, while Apple sold 1,8 million more smartphones in the same period. Apple saw a sharp increase in sales in the fourth quarter, thanks in large part to the introduction of significantly larger iPhones; Samsung, on the other hand, is struggling with a significant drop in sales caused by an uninteresting range of flagships, which did not bring anything new compared to last year's models.

A year ago, however, the situation was completely different. Samsung could boast of selling 83,3 million phones, Apple sold 50,2 million iPhones at that time. The Californian company could maintain its lead even in the first quarter of this year, in the second quarter Samsung intends to start with the newly introduced flagships Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

It will be interesting to see how Samsung fares with the new range of phones against Apple's portfolio, which will probably not be updated until September.
