Today, Apple introduced the next version of watchOS for the Apple Watch as part of its developer conference. The new watchOS 6 comes with a number of useful features, and Apple has clearly shown the tendency to make its smartwatches as independent as possible. Thanks to watchOS 6, for example, it will be possible to install applications from the App Store directly on the Apple Watch. Of course, there are also new dials and functions for monitoring ambient noise.

What's new in watchOS 6:

  • watchOS 6 gets brand new watch faces – gradient, large number watch face, digital watch face, California watch face and more.
  • With the new system, the Apple Watch will notify you that a whole hour has passed (for example, at 11:00).
  • The system receives the new applications Apple Books, Dictaphone and Calculator, where the last mentioned will be used, for example, for quick calculation of expenses between several people.
  • watchOS 6 will offer standalone applications that will not be dependent on the iPhone in any way
  • The system gets its own App Store available directly on the watch. It will be possible to search, view reviews and, most importantly, install applications directly on the Apple Watch.
  • The Activity app gets a new trending activity indicator that offers long-term analysis (for movements, exercise, standing, walking speed, etc.). There will also be a motivational mode. All reports will also be available in the Health app on the iPhone.
  • watchOS 6 brings a new ambient noise monitoring feature that monitors whether the user is in an overly noisy environment. The upper limit can easily be set according to your own preferences.
  • The system brings a new Cycle tracking function – tracking periods in women (monitoring menstruation and ovulation)
  • There are a number of new complications that will become part of new and existing dials
