For many years, users have been waiting for the successor to the once revolutionary MacBook Air. Many have already feared that Apple has no plans to continue with its lower-cost notebook line, and that the more expensive Retina MacBook will be the ticket to the line. This afternoon, however, Apple proved that it is thinking about its cheapest portable computers and introduced the new MacBook Air. It finally gets a Retina display, but also Touch ID, a new keyboard or a total of three color versions.

The new MacBook Air in points:

  • Retina display with a diagonal of 13,3″ and a double resolution of 2560 x 1600 (4 million pixels), which displays 48% more colors.
  • It gets Touch ID for unlocking and paying through Apple Pay.
  • Along with this, an Apple T2 chip was added to the motherboard, which, among other things, provides the Hey Siri function.
  • Keyboard with butterfly mechanism of the 3rd generation. Each key is individually backlit.
  • Force Touch trackpad that is 20% larger.
  • 25% louder speakers and twice as powerful bass. Three microphones ensure better sound during calls.
  • The notebook is equipped with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, through which you can connect external graphics cards or a monitor with up to 5K resolution.
  • Eighth generation Intel Core i5 processor.
  • Up to 16 GB RAM
  • Up to 1,5 TB SSD, which is 60% faster than its predecessor.
  • The battery offers all-day endurance (up to 12 hours of surfing the Internet or 13 hours of playing movies in iTunes).
  • The novelty is 17% smaller than its predecessor and weighs only 1,25 kilograms.
  • It is made of 100% recycled aluminum.
  • The basic variant equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor with a core clock of 1,6 GHz, 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD will cost $1199.
  • The new MacBook Air is available in three color variants – silver, space gray and gold.
  • Pre-orders start today. Sales start in the week of November 8.
