Just a short while ago, Apple presented its new iOS 2020 operating system at WWDC 14. The update includes a number of changes in the user interface and individual applications, as well as a completely new native application called Translate. What have we learned about her?
As the name suggests, the Translate application is used for easy, fast and reliable translations, for which it uses both voice and text input. All processes in the application take place purely internally using the Neural Engine - the translator therefore does not need an active Internet connection for its operation, and does not send the relevant data to Apple. Initially, Translate will only work with 11 languages (English, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian), but the number will grow over time. The native Translate application is primarily intended to translate conversations, in a fast and natural way, while maintaining maximum user privacy.
Czech will definitely be one of the last :(
And is Siri already on the way?
Google Translate supports Czech, although only online. Apple borrowed the name from it and took a lot of inspiration in the icon as well. I just wonder how Apple's code review would turn out if someone copied their app like that ;-)
