Recently, there has been a lot of speculation about the arrival of Apple Pay on the Czech market. Many indications indicate that the possibility to pay with an iPhone and Apple Watch will arrive in our region soon. After all, this is now also confirmed by Seznam Zpravy, which, however, came with the information that Apple Pay will be slightly delayed. Even so, the service will reach us in a month and a half.

According to the editors List of Messages, which obtained the information from a source from the banking environment, the launch of Apple Pay on the domestic market should take place at the turn of February and March. So it seems that compared to the originally expected date, the start of the service was slightly delayed, but only by a few weeks.

Already in the last months of last year, we informed you at Jablíčkář that Czech banks should offer Apple Pay for the first time in February. We were based on the information that we are discovered in the private section on the Moneta Money Bank website. Among other things, the mentioned period also corresponded with information from other sources.

Many banks also confirmed the launch of Apple Pay during the first quarter of 2019. In the answers to readers under our article on Facebook, ČSOB, for example, let us know that it too has confirmed the arrival of Apple Pay in the Czech Republic and that it wants to offer payment in this way to its clients in the first half of this year. Also Komerční banka not long ago she declared, that he plans to launch a payment service from Apple at the beginning of the year.

There will be several banks at the birth

Several Czech banks should initially offer Apple Pay. According to information from Seznam Zpráv, the first group should include České spořitelna, mBank, Komerční banka, Moneta, AirBank and Fio banka. In addition to classic banking institutions, the Czech startup Twisto should also offer the service.

Banks such as Equabank and Creditas would then like to provide iPhone payment to their clients during the first half of the year. ČSOB and Raiffeisenbank have also shown interest in the Apple payment service, but they do not yet know when they will offer it. However, it was Československá obchodní banka that stated on Facebook that its clients will be able to make payments in this way already in the first half of 2019.
