Almost a month after Apple sent out the final beta of the Xcode 11.3.1 development kit to developers, it officially released it today. The latest version of Xcode brings bug fixes and improvements, including reducing the size of dependencies generated by the Swift compiler. This change can have a positive effect on compilation speed and storage usage, especially for more demanding programs with many source files.

The company also notified developers that all apps submitted for approval to the App Store must use Xcode Storyboard and Auto Layout features starting April 1, 2020. Thanks to these features, the elements of the user interface, the launch screen and the overall visuals of the application automatically adapt to the screen of the device without the need for additional intervention by the developer. Apple also fixed a bug that could cause Xcode to freeze when working with the Storyboard feature.

The company also encourages programmers to incorporate iPad multitasking support into their apps. This includes support for multiple open windows and Slide Over, Split View and Picture in Picture features.

Xcode 11.3.1 enables developers to build apps compatible with iOS 13.3, iPadOS 13.3, macOS 10.15.2, watchOS 6.1, and tvOS 13.3.
