American newspaper The New York Times he came with information about how successful the service is recently introduced Apple News+. It offers its users access to several hundred magazines, newspapers or newspaper clippings. Apple introduced the service at a keynote a week ago, and since then the subscription service has been off to a pretty good start.

The New York Times cites sources with inside information on the number of Apple News+ subscribers. According to their information, more than two hundred thousand users subscribed to the service in the first forty-eight hours after its launch. This number alone does not have much telling value, but it is a matter of context.

Apple News+ is based on the application (or platform) Texture, which Apple bought last year. It worked on the same principle, i.e. it offered users access to magazines and newspapers for a certain subscription. Apple News+ has more paying users in two days than Texture, which has been around for several years. The original Texture continues to work, but at the end of May, the service will stop because of Apple News+.

Apple charges $10 a month for its new subscription service, but users who are interested in it can use a free one-month trial. It will be available for a whole month from the keynote, i.e. about three more weeks. The high number of subscribers is certainly affected by the trial mentioned above, but Apple will certainly do everything to maintain, if not increase, the largest number of paying customers. The service is currently only available in the United States and Canada.
