With the arrival of last year's iPhone 12 generation, Apple bet on 5G support. These Apple phones became extremely popular practically immediately, as evidenced by their sales estimates. In any case, Apple does not publish the exact numbers of how many were sold. But now the analytical company has made itself heard Strategy Analytics, which brings fresh information on sales, and at the same time focuses on the mentioned 5G connectivity. According to their information, in terms of 5G smartphones, the iPhone is at the top and sold 2021 million units in the first quarter of 40,4.

While 40 million units sold seems like an amazing number, it's a 23% drop from the last quarter of last year, when Apple sold roughly 52,2 million units. Even so, the giant from Cupertino keeps the first place. Apple could boast of the best sales ever for 3 months after the release of the iPhone 12. However, competing manufacturers were also able to gain quite solid popularity. For example, the Chinese company Oppo took second place in the ranking of the best-selling 5G smartphones. In fact, it sold 21,5 million in the first quarter of this year, gaining a 15,8% market share and a 55% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. Vivo took third place. The latter sold 19,4 million units and compared to the previous quarter (Q4 2020) received a 62% increase.

It is still in fourth place with 17 million 5G phones sold. Thanks to this, the giant earned a 12,5% market share and an amazing 79% increase, again compared to the last quarter of 2020. As the last or fifth company, Strategy Analytics lists Xiaomi with 16,6 million units sold, and therefore with 12,2% of the market share and a 41% increase. The analytical company continues to assume that a record 5 million units will be sold on the 624G smartphone market this year. Last year, however, it was "only" 269 million.
