In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Mac sales rose last year. But it is not enough to compete

According to the latest information from Canalys, Mac sales increased in 2020. Apple reportedly sold 22,6 million devices, marking a 16% increase over 2019, when "only" 19,4 million units were sold. Although these are relatively beautiful numbers, it must be recognized that the Cupertino company is relatively lagging behind its competition.

The report is all about PC sales, not counting 2-in-1 PCs that you can turn into a tablet in an instant. Sales of desktops, laptops and workstations grew by 25% year-on-year, surpassing a record 90,3 million units sold. The strongest period was then the fourth quarter. Lenovo managed to maintain its dominant position in the market with 72,6 million units, followed by HP with 67,6 million units and Dell with 50,3 million units sold.

Apple is promoting privacy again at CES 2021

It is generally known about Apple that it cares about the privacy of its users, which, by the way, it often promotes through various advertisements and spots. After all, this is also proven by some functions that the Cupertino company implements in its systems. For example, we can mention the Sign in with Apple option, thanks to which we do not even have to share our e-mail with the other party, or the current novelty, when within iOS/iPadOS we have to allow applications to track us across websites and applications. After that, Apple likes to spread all sorts of ads during the CES conference. Today, when this conference kicked off this year, we saw three short images focusing on Face ID, Apple Pay and Apple Watch cases.

In the first advertisement about Face ID, Apple says that the relevant data is not shared with anyone at all, not even with Apple itself. The same is the case with the second spot about Apple Pay. In this, it tells us practically the same thing, i.e. that even Apple itself does not know what we use its payment option for and what we spend for.

The last video is dedicated to the Apple Watch smart watch. In it, Apple tells us that it recycles all the aluminum from apple phones and then uses it to create the cases of these apple watches. We encountered something similar during the CES 2019 conference, when Apple displayed huge billboards in Las Vegas with the slogan "What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone," alluding to the iconic message "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. "

Apple is working on Bluetooth issues with M1 Macs

In November of last year, Apple showed us the first Apple computers equipped with M1 chips from the Apple Silicon family. The Californian giant replaced processors from Intel and was able to move the performance of these machines several levels forward in an incredible way. Although this is a wonderful step forward, unfortunately it was not without minor problems. Some users started to complain about problems related to Bluetooth technology back in November. The connection either dropped, or it didn't work at all.

Ian Bogost, who personally encountered the same problems, came up with the latest information. He allegedly discussed the problems directly with Apple, which should already be consistently working on a software solution. We should expect this update in the coming days or weeks.
