The eternal rivals in the field of mobile phones may have a turbulent year this year. It practically depends on how their upcoming flagships do. If they don't reach out, it will mean a major change. Neither is doing very well, although the fact is that one may have an ace up their sleeve.

Is Samsung or Apple better? It depends on what you mean by this question. It's true that Samsung is number one in sales, but Apple makes more money on its iPhones than anyone else. In addition, the first mentioned is already planning its biggest event of the year for tomorrow, the one for Apple will not come until September.

Samsung Galaxy S23

Last year, Samsung presented the Galaxy S22 series, in which the model with the nickname Ultra stood out. He revived the Note series, which was characterized by the use of the S Pen, but he named it as his flagship, i.e. the S series. On Wednesday, February 1, he is going to show the world a successor in the form of the Galaxy S23 series, about which we know practically everything thanks to leaks.

When Apple introduced the iPhone 14, it was criticized by experts and the public for the minimum of innovation. Not too much is expected even from Samsung news. They will practically only improve the existing models, without much thought. Yes, the Ultra model is supposed to have a 200MPx camera, but will it be enough to appeal to customers? Samsung will have a very difficult year this year.

Sales of Samsung Electronics, the most important division of Samsung, fell by 4% in the 8th quarter of last year. It is due to the global situation and the fact that Samsung presents new models somewhat unfortunately, that is, at the beginning of the year and after the Christmas season. But Apple also didn't exactly shine and great numbers are not expected from it either, due to the lack of iPhone 14 Pro, which it was unable to supply the market with due to the closure of Chinese factories.

Stagnation of innovation

But Apple has the advantage of being able to wait. September is still a long time away and the market situation can improve. But Samsung is introducing its innovations right now, into an uncertain market in which customers are more than ever considering whether they investing in a new phone pays off. But if he doesn't show the appropriate innovations, why do you want him?

According to the leaks, it will actually be the same innovation as the iPhone 14. So you can count them on one hand, with the Ultra model on two. The design of the basic models is to be changed, but it is not yet known if it will be able to appeal. So it could be said that Samsung sold 2023 in the interest of stabilization. It does not bring too much news, in which it does not have to invest too many resources, and it will attack only with the Galaxy S24 series - that is, with regard to the most equipped smartphones (no miracle sales are still expected from jigsaws).

Extra expensive vs. available phones

Apple is preparing a series of iPhone 15 for September. It is quite likely that the basic series will not be any different from the iPhone 14, but it is said that the iPhone 15 Ultra model is being prepared, which is supposed to be premium. But the question here is, if the situation continues as it is, who will buy it? Even Apple can crash just like Samsung, but Apple has no backup plan.

Samsung can show a top-of-the-range line that doesn't have to have great sales in order to keep the number one position in terms of sales. Its main draw is the available Galaxy A series. It should introduce its new models in the spring, and they could just appeal to the masses if they set the ideal price range for them. Many users can say that they no longer want to spend huge sums on new phones, when even the mid-range ones bring them what they need.

We are not market analysts to judge and predict. But there are clear indications, thanks to which we can make a picture. The mobile market is declining as many people have deeper pockets or are waiting to buy with an eye on what will happen. And it will be extremely interesting to see how both companies approach the situation. We will find out half of the puzzle tomorrow.
