Apple Music continues to grow and has now defeated its biggest competitor, Spotify. Well, at least in the domestic market in the United States. However, the music service is also thriving overseas and gaining subscribers worldwide.

A Wall Street Journal report brings information that Apple's bet on services is paying off. Specifically, Apple Music is bringing more and more profits. It is strongest in the domestic market in the USA, where users have begun to prefer it over competitor Spotify.

At the end of February, the number of Apple Music subscribers was around 28 million, while competitor Spotify had a full 2 million fewer active subscribers, i.e. 26 million. Moreover, it is not just about the total numbers, but also the speed at which the services are growing. And Cupertino does well in this category as well.

The annual growth of Apple's music service is between 2,6-3%, while the competition from Sweden is growing more slowly at a rate of around 1,5-2%.

Of course, the total number of accounts on Spotify is much higher, even when limited to the US region. On the other hand, according to the results, free accounts do not generate significant income, so they are not a very relevant economic indicator.

Globally, however, Spotify beats Apple Music

Where Apple Music loses, however, is on a global scale. The domestic American market, where Apple is generally strong, does not correspond to the global one. Globally Apple Music has reached 50 million subscribers, while Spotify attacks double.

However, there is an interesting trend with Spotify, where the overall profitability per user is decreasing. It is quite possible that this part of the income is also affected by the free accounts. Apple, on the other hand, manages to increase profitability, but its service does not offer any free accounts (except for the trial period).

In addition, Cupertino's campaign can record another victory. Thanks to the recent integration into the Amazon ecosystem, it can gain additional subscribers. In addition to Spotify, Amazon Echo or Amazon Fire TV also now offers Apple Music. And this may further push many users to choose Apple's music service instead of Spotify.

It looks like Apple's music service has its best days ahead of it.
