Spotify released its Q2018 30 earnings, which increased by a respectable 87%. At the same time, the number of users using Spotify Premium has grown rapidly. The number jumped from the original 96 million to XNUMX million.

Some are also users who bought a Google smart speaker with a family subscription service. The company's CEO announced that their app is the second largest podcast platform, just behind Apple's Podcasts app. The acquisition of the Gimlet and Anchor services also helped this significantly, making the company clear about the direction it will continue to take.

The fact that Spotify reported a positive operating and net profit for the first time in its history, namely 94 million euros, can certainly be considered the biggest success. The number of active users increased by 29% year-on-year to 207 million, beating the most optimistic estimates (199-206 million). The market grew the most in Latin America and other developing countries. During the fourth quarter of 2018, the app also found a home in 13 more countries and is now available in a total of 78 states.

Planned spending for 2019 should be between $400 and $500 million. Spotify is still number one when it comes to numbers. However, even Apple Music is not stagnant and its base of subscribers is constantly growing. Apple's music streaming service has reached 50 million subscribers, of which 10 million users started using the service in the last six months.
