Last night, information appeared on the web that Apple has launched a beta version of its new platform called Apple Music for Artists. At its core, it's an analytics tool that allows artists to see accurate statistics about how they're doing on the Apple Music streaming service and iTunes. Musicians and bands will thus have an overview of what their fans listen to and what their habits are, what genres or bands mix with their music, what songs or albums are the most popular and much more.

Currently, Apple is sending out invitations to a closed beta that has reached several thousand larger artists. The new tool is supposed to provide really detailed information both about the music as such and about the users who listen to it. This way, artists can see exactly how many times a song has been played, which of their albums is the best-seller, and which, on the other hand, the listeners are not interested in. The smallest demographic detail can be very precisely selected in this data, so artists (and their management) will have precise information about who they are targeting and what success they are having.

This data will be available in several timelines. From filtering activity for the last twenty-four hours, to statistics since the first launch of Apple Music in 2015. Filtering will be possible within individual countries or even specific cities. This can help, for example, when planning different concert lines, as management and the band will see where they have the strongest audience base. It is definitely a useful tool that will bring fruit to artists in the hands of an expert.
