The French Competition Authority has once again shined a light on Apple. Reuters reports that the Cupertino company will receive a fine on Monday for anti-competitive practices. Information from two independent sources is available. We should learn more details, including the amount of the fine, on Monday.

Today's report explains that the fine relates to anti-competitive practices in the distribution and sales network. The problem is probably related to the AppStore. Apple has not yet commented directly on the situation. However, it could be the case, for example, that Apple prioritized its own services over competitors in the AppStore. Google was also fined for similar practices last year.

In June 2019, the French Competition Authority (FCA) issued a report claiming that certain aspects of Apple's sales and distribution network violate competition. Apple denied the allegations at a hearing before the FCA on October 15. According to French sources, the decision was made these days and we will know it on Monday.

This is already the second fine from the French authorities in 2020. Last month, Apple had to pay 27 million dollars (approx. 631 million crowns) for the targeted slowing down of iPhones with older batteries. In addition, the company a few days ago agreed to pay up to 500 million dollars in damages in the US, again for reducing the performance of iPhones. From this point of view, it is not exactly a happy start to 2020.
