When new generations come in, the old ones have to clear the field. At the same time, Apple announced many new product lines this year, such as the Mac Studio or the Apple Watch Ultra. But we definitely said goodbye to a one-year-old "legend" and a computer that still has no alternative.

27" iMac

Last year we got a 24" iMac with an M1 chip and since then we've actually been waiting for Apple to bring its larger version. That won't happen this year, even though the 27" iMac still with an Intel processor has definitely dropped from the company's portfolio, following the introduction of the Mac Studio with a Studio display, which can be its sure replacement. Since Apple discontinued both the iMac Pro last year, the 24" iMac is actually the only all-in-one the company currently sells.

iPod touch

In May of this year, Apple issued a press release announcing the end of the iPod line. Its last representative in the company's offer was the 7th generation iPod touch, which was introduced in 2019 and sold until June. This was due to iOS 16, which is not compatible with any generation of iPod touch, which clearly means the end of support for this device, for which hardware upgrades no longer make sense. It was killed by iPhones and possibly the Apple Watch. The iPod has a long history, as its first model was introduced back in 2001 and soon became one of the company's best-known products.

Apple Watch Series 3, SE (1st generation), Edition

The Apple Watch Series 3 has outlived its usefulness for a very long time and should have cleared the field a long time ago because it doesn't even support the current watchOS. The fact that Apple introduced the 2nd generation Apple Watch SE was perhaps a surprise, because it would make sense that the first generation of this lightweight model would take over the position of the Series 3. But instead, Apple discontinued the first generation as well. Along with these two models, the Edition moniker Apple Watch, which was available right after the launch of the original Apple Watch in 2015, ended. These watches were characterized by premium materials such as gold, ceramic or titanium. However, the Titans are now the Apple Watch Ultra, and the Hermès branding remains the only exclusive variant.

iPhone 11

Because a new line was added, the oldest had to leave. The Apple Online Store now offers iPhones from the 12 series, so the iPhone 11 is definitely out of sale. Its clear limitation is the lousy LCD display, while the iPhone 11 Pro models already offer OLED, and since the 12 series, all iPhone models have it. Unfortunately, Apple did not discount this year, so if we do not count the iPhone SE, this particular model worth 20 crowns is considered an entry-level device. And considering that this is a two-year-old machine, it is not a friendly price. The mini model did not remain in the offer. In its case, you have to go to the iPhone 13 range, where it is still available, at the same price, i.e. CZK 19.

Apple TV HD

After the launch of the third generation Apple TV 4K in October, Apple discontinued the Apple TV HD model from 2015. It was originally launched as the 4th generation Apple TV, but with the arrival of Apple TV 4K it was renamed HD. It is quite logical that it clears the field, not only considering the specifications but also the price. After all, Apple was able to reduce this with the current generation, and therefore maintaining the HD version would no longer be worthwhile.
