Creative and media professionals were among the first buyers of the original Macintosh computer. It was they on whom Apple built the partial success in the battle for corporate customers, which it has been waging with Microsoft for many years. These graphic designers and filmmakers valued the purity and simplicity of the Mac more than the wider compatibility offered by a Windows computer.

Many of these power users, who need to work with huge files and the most demanding software, often prefer the Mac Pro over more common and less powerful Apple desktops or laptops. Although the design of this metal box is far behind the elegant designs of iOS devices directed by Apple's chief designer, Jony Ivo, it still fulfills its irreplaceable function for a large user base.

Users cannot praise the expandability that Mac Pro offers. With four slots for hard or SSD drives, two six-core processors, eight memory slots with up to 64 GB of RAM, and two PCI Express slots for two powerful graphics cards that can support up to six monitors, the Mac Pro is an absolute performance monster.

Even so, Apple lets it decline. It was last updated less than two years ago - in July 2010. However, there have been several generations of the iPhone in between. However, Mac Pros with aging hardware are unfortunately beginning to suffer the effects of time. Although its users have been patient in the hope that they would see a new version of the Xeon server series processor, which would already run on the latest Sandy Bridge platform from Intel, there is no sign of an upcoming improvement yet.

However, some Mac Pro lovers are not going to put up with this uncertainty. The first to speak was video maker and designer, Lou Borella, who chose the 21st century Time Square, Facebook, as the site of his protest. On the page "We Want a New Macpro" (We want a new Mac Pro), he first showed that, as a true Apple customer, he has everything from Macs, iPhones and iPods to software packages. He wants to support his opinion on the given situation, he wants his opinion to be taken seriously.

Borella has obviously run into quite a problem when his page has over 17 likes, which are growing at a rate of up to 000 per day. He commented: “We just need to clear this up - is there something going on with the MacPro? It has been neglected for long enough. We understand that the success of iPhones and iPads is important and we are also happy with our new toys, but unfortunately some of us have to make decisions that will depend on our livelihoods.”

But Apple increasingly gives the impression that it is more focused on portable devices and television than on businesses and workstations - such as the Mac Pro. Although a new version of MacBook laptops is expected at the WWDC developer conference, Tim Cook did not mention desktop computers at all in his last public interview.

Although the company Apple earns mainly iOS devices, they should not forget about more demanding creative individuals. Of course, the profits from this group are minuscule compared to the iOS giants. However, these users are just as important to Apple and a very loyal group. The cost of developing a new Mac Pro would probably be minimal for Apple, but who knows, maybe some part of the technologies developed first for the Mac Pro, as the absolute number one in performance, could later be transferred to the next generations of iMacs, MacBooks and maybe also iTV.

Editor-in-Chief's Note:

Server & Hosting 9to5Mac brought another speculation after the deadline of this article, according to which there is going to be a complete change of all Apple computers. Hopefully, professionals will also see Mac Pro.
