In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Who will take care of Apple Car production?

In recent weeks, in connection with the Apple Car, Apple's cooperation with the Hyundai car company has often been discussed. But as it seems now, nothing will probably come of the potential collaboration and the Cupertino company will have to look for another partner. There are, of course, several problems, and it is possible that automakers simply will not want to connect with Apple, for the same reasons that troubled Hyundai.

The biggest problem is that the automaker has to do a lot of work, while, as they say, Apple just licks the cream. In addition, both mentioned companies are used to being in charge and making decisions for themselves, whereas suddenly submitting to someone can be simply difficult. In addition, the situation surrounding companies such as Foxconn makes everything more difficult. As I'm sure you all know, this is probably the most powerful link in the Apple supply chain that takes care of "assembling" (not only) iPhones. However, they do not show any exceptional income and all the glory goes to Apple. It is therefore logical to assume that renowned car companies that have been producing great cars for several long years do not really want to end up like this.

As an example, we can cite, for example, the Volkswagen Group concern, for which it is immediately clear that it would like to avoid the situation with Foxconn as far as possible. This is a huge company that wants to develop its own software for autonomous driving, its own operating system and keep everything under its own control. These are, among other things, the words of an automotive analyst named Demian Flower from Commerzbank. Jürgen Pieper, an analyst from the German bank Metzler, also shares a similar idea. According to him, car companies can lose a lot by cooperating with Apple, while the Cupertino giant does not risk that much.

On the contrary, "smaller" car companies are potential partners for cooperation with Apple. We are specifically talking about brands such as Honda, BMW, Stellantis and Nissan. So it is possible that BMW, for example, may see a great opportunity in this. The last and most suitable option is the so-called "Foxconn of the automotive world" - the Magna company. It already operates as a car manufacturer for Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, BMW and Jaguar. With this step, Apple would avoid the mentioned problems and make it easier in many ways.

Sales of the iPhone 12 mini are disastrous

When Apple introduced a new generation of apple phones last October, many domestic apple lovers rejoiced, thanks to the arrival of the iPhone 12 mini. A lot of people were missing a similar model on the market - that is, an iPhone that would offer the most up-to-date technologies in a small body, an OLED panel, Face ID technology and the like. But as it now turns out, this group of users is practically negligible in the eyes of the most valuable company. According to the latest survey by the analytical company Counterpoint Research, the sale of this "crumb" during the first half of January 2021 in the United States of America was only 5% of all iPhones sold.

People are simply not that interested in this model. In addition, in recent days, news has begun to spread that Apple will prematurely stop production of this model. On the contrary, the current owners cannot praise this piece enough and hope that we will see a continuation of the mini series in the future. The current coronavirus situation can also have an impact on low demand. A smaller phone is especially suitable for frequent trips, while when people are always at home, they require a larger display. Of course, these assumptions still only concern a minority group of apple users, and we will simply have to wait for further steps from Apple.
