Today brought more interesting news about the expected third-generation AirPods. At the same time, other new reports mention charging for the services of the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia for technology giants who draw information from it for their solutions.

Another source confirms that we will have to wait for AirPods 3

In recent weeks, there has been quite a lot of talk about the arrival of the third generation of AirPods. According to initial information from several sources, these wireless headphones should be presented during the end of this month, namely during the first Keynote of the year, which is dated March 23. The closer the date gets, the more the chances of the performance itself decrease. The imminent arrival has been hinted at by a reputed leaker going by the moniker Kang, who says the product is ready to ship and just waiting to be revealed.

However, one of the most famous people associated with Apple, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, intervened in the whole situation yesterday. According to his own information, these headphones will not go into mass production until the third quarter of this year at the earliest, which of course means that we will have to wait for them. This information was additionally confirmed today by an anonymous leaker. He said on his account on the Weiboo social network that we can only dream about AirPods 3 for now. He also posted an interesting link at the same time. According to him, AirPods 2 "will not die," referring to the doubts of Kuo, who is not sure whether Apple will continue to produce the second generation even after the introduction of the third. There is therefore a good chance that the aforementioned AirPods 2 will eventually be available at a lower price.

In addition, the aforementioned anonymous leaker boasts a fairly decent past, when he was able to reveal exactly which Macs will be the first to be equipped with an Apple Silicon chip. At the same time, he accurately estimated the available colors of last year's iPad Air, the introduction of the smaller HomePod mini and the correct naming of the entire iPhone 12 series. Other doubts are now also appearing about the expected Keynote. Apple almost always sends out invitations to its conferences a week in advance, which would mean that we should already know for sure whether the event will take place or not. For now, it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer for Apple news.

Apple may pay Wikipedia to use data

The voice assistant Siri offers various options. One of them is that it can provide us with basic information about almost anything that can be found on the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia, from which it also draws its data, by the way. As of now, there is no known financial relationship between the Cupertino company and Wikipedia, but this could change soon, according to the latest information.

Wikipedia on Mac fb

The non-profit organization Wikimedia Foundation, which ensures the running of Wikipedia itself, is preparing to launch a new project called Wikimedia Enterprise. This platform would provide interested parties with a number of great tools and information, but for which other companies would have to already pay to gain access to the data itself and be able to use it in their own programs. Wikimedia should already be in intensive negotiations with leading technology giants. Although no report directly mentions negotiations with Apple, it can be expected that the Cupertino company will not miss this opportunity. The entire project could be launched this year.
