In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

We will not see a free version of Apple Music

To listen to music today, we can turn to a streaming platform that, for a monthly fee, makes available to us an extensive library with various styles, artists and songs. It's no secret that Sweden's Spotify dominates the market. Apart from it, we can also choose from several other companies, for example Apple or Amazon. The aforementioned Spotify and Amazon services also offer their listeners a free version of the platform where you can listen to music completely free of charge. This brings with it a toll in the form of constant listening interrupted by various advertisements and limited functions. In addition, some people have so far discussed whether we can count on a similar mode at Apple as well.

The latest information has now been brought by Elean Segal, who holds the position of director of music publishing at Apple. Segal recently had to answer various questions on the floor of the UK Parliament, where, among others, representatives of Spotify and Amazon were also present. It was, of course, about the economics of streaming services. They were all asked the same question about subscription pricing and how they felt about the free versions. Segal said that such a move does not make sense for Apple Music, as it would not be able to generate enough profit and would rather hurt the entire ecosystem. At the same time, this would be a step that is not in line with the company's view of privacy. So it's clear that we won't see a free version of Apple Music, at least for now.

Final Cut Pro and moving to a monthly subscription

The Cupertino company offers a number of programs for its Macs for a variety of purposes. In the case of video, this is the free iMovie application, which can handle basic editing, and Final Cut Pro, which is intended for professionals for a change and can handle almost anything. In the current situation, the program is available for 7 crowns. This higher amount may discourage many potential users from purchasing, and therefore they prefer to move to an alternative (cheaper/free) solution. In any case, Apple recently changed the program's trademark, thus outlining possible changes. In theory, Final Cut Pro would no longer cost less than eight thousand, but on the contrary, we could get it on the basis of a monthly subscription.

According to the latest news from Patently Apple, the Californian giant on Monday changed its classification for the program to #42, which stands for SaaS, or Software as a Service, or PaaS, that is Platform as a Service. We could find the same classification, for example, with the office package Microsoft Office 365, which is also available on a subscription basis. Along with the subscription, Apple could also offer some additional content to Apple users. Specifically, it could be various tutorials, procedures and the like.

Whether Apple will actually go the subscription route is, of course, unclear for now. However, Apple users are already complaining a lot on Internet forums and would prefer the Cupertino company to maintain the current model, where professional applications such as Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro are available at a higher price. How do you view the whole situation?

Apple faces review of Sign in with Apple feature and developer complaints

The iOS 13 operating system brought a great security feature that Apple users fell in love with almost immediately. We are, of course, talking about Sign in with Apple, thanks to which you can log in/register to various applications and services, and what's more, you don't even have to share your e-mail address with them - your Apple ID will handle everything for you. Google, Twitter and Facebook also offer a similar function, but without privacy protection. But the US Department of Justice is now dealing with significant complaints from the developers themselves, who are up in arms against this feature.

Sign in with Apple

Apple now directly requires that every application that offers the mentioned alternatives from Google, Facebook and Twitter has Sign in with Apple. According to the developers, this feature prevents users from switching to competing products. This whole case was again commented on by several Apple users, according to whom it is a perfect function that protects the privacy of users and hides the mentioned e-mail address. It is no secret that developers often spam users with various e-mails, or share these addresses with each other.
