Just 10 years ago, Flash technology from Adobe was moving the world. Of course, even Apple was partly aware of this, and according to the latest information from the head of software engineering at the time, it was trying to get Flash onto iOS, with which it directly helped Adobe. But the result was disastrous. Apple also updated the firmware on two AirPods models today.

Apple tried to help Adobe bring Flash to iOS. The result was catastrophic

For several months now, a legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple has been resolved, due to the removal of the popular game Fortnite from the App Store. But this was preceded by a violation of the rules of the apple trade, when the game's own payment system was introduced. On the occasion of the current court hearings, the former head of software engineering at Apple, Scott Forstall, was summoned to testify, and he came up with quite interesting information. In the early days of the iOS system, they considered porting Flash.

Flash on iPad

It was one of the most popular web technologies at the time. Apple should therefore have considered introducing support into its system, with which it wanted to directly help Adobe, the company behind Flash. Porting this technology made the most sense in the days of the first iPad in 2010. The apple tablet was supposed to serve as a remote alternative to a classic computer, but there was a problem - the device could not display websites built using that Flash. However, despite all efforts, the results were unsatisfactory. Forstall claims that the technology on iOS ran incredibly poorly and the result was catastrophically bad.

The introduction of the first iPad in 2010

Despite the fact that iOS, and later also iPadOS, never received support, we should not forget the earlier words of the father of Apple, Steve Jobs. The latter has publicly stated that they definitely have no plans to bring Flash to iOS, for a simple reason. Apple believed in the future of HTML5, which by the way was already characterized by better performance and stability. And if we look back on this statement, Jobs was right.
