Apple TV has been quite busy lately. Although Apple released a new version of its smart box only last spring, it could introduce its new and significantly lighter version this year. The so-called In addition, the Apple TV Stick would be significantly cheaper. It is the price that is criticized the most about Apple TV.

Apple TV is a relatively expensive device, the HD version with 32GB of internal storage costs CZK 4, the 190K version starts at CZK 4, and the 4GB version will cost you CZK 990. The competition in the form of Roku Streaming Stick 64K and Fire TV Stick from Amazon ranges from 5 to 590 dollars, i.e. from approx. And that's why Apple TV clearly loses in the smart box market, moreover, this price difference greatly hinders its competitiveness with others.

Apple's goal would therefore be to lighten its novelty so that it would be at least partially competitive in price, but it still did not let up on its high standards. It would therefore mean that we could move somewhere around the "Baťov" price of 99 dollars, i.e. 2 CZK, which is already half of the current price. But what would Apple offer us for it?

Will Apple Arcade owners survive?

Apple TV, which the company introduced last year, is equipped with the A12 Bionic chip derived from the iPhone XS. In terms of performance, the current generation is far behind its competition, this chip also ensures the operation of the Apple Arcade platform, which is available in Apple TV. But reducing the price means saving in all respects, so it is quite possible that Apple would have to ease up here and remove Apple Arcade from support. However, it would stand against itself - in order for one platform to grow (and the other in the form of the Fitness+ service), it will limit the growth of the other. If Apple Arcade does not switch to the purpose of streaming games, the chip will probably remain the same in the new solution. Plus, Apple Arcade would be what would set Apple's TV Stick apart from the rest, so it could be an advantage.

But you could definitely save money on the controller, which might not be part of the product. E.g. The Amazon Fire TV Stick includes the voice assistant Alexa, so it would be enough for Apple to have its Siri in its solution constantly listening to what is happening in the home, so that you can control it with just your voice. And that would be a relatively expected step, even with regard to Apple's philosophy. It goes without saying that AirPlay 2 is supported, but whether it would be 4K or 120Hz refresh rate is a question. The important one also revolves around internal storage and application support.
