From February 1 this year, Apple employees were supposed to return to the company's campus. However, back in December, she announced that it would not happen this time either. The pandemic of the disease COVID-19 is still moving the world, and even in this third year, in which it intervenes, it will be greatly affected.

This is the fourth time Apple has had to adjust its plan to bring employees back to its offices. This time, the spread of the Omicron mutation is to blame. February 1, 2022 thus became an unspecified date, which the company does not specify in any way. As soon as the situation improves, he says he will let his employees know at least a month in advance. Along with the notification of this delay in return to work, Bloomberg reports, that Apple is giving its employees bonuses of up to $1 to spend on equipment for their home office.

At the beginning of last year, Apple hoped for a better course of the pandemic. He planned for the employees to return as early as June, i.e. for at least three days a week. He then moved this date to September, October, January and finally February 2022. However, a significant number of Apple employees are disappointed that Apple is not switching to a "more modern" work-from-home policy in the long term. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that he wants to test this hybrid model before reconsidering it if necessary.

The situation in other companies

Already in May 2020, the head of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, sent his email to employees, in which he told them that if they wanted, they could work exclusively from their homes forever. And if they don't want to and if the company's offices are open, they can come again at any time. E.g. Facebook and Amazon had a full home office planned for their employees only until January 2022. At Microsoft has been working from home until further notice since September, i.e. similar to what is currently the case at Apple.

Google

But if you look at its employee support in the form of a technical allowance, it is quite the opposite with Google. Back in May of last year, the company's CEO Sundar Pichai stated that he wanted as many employees as possible to return to the offices when they opened. But in August the message came regarding the fact that Google will reduce their wages by 10 to 15% for employees who decide to permanently stay at their home office in the United States. And that is not a very ideal motivation to return to work.
