From Apple's streaming service, which is currently showing we are waiting, many promise a quality competitor for Spotify, Rdio or Google Play Music. According to server resources Billboard however, Apple isn't just about this particular segment; wants to become the absolute leader in the field of music distribution.

Apple has been associated with the music industry for many years, thanks to the iPod player and subsequently the super-successful iTunes store. In recent years, however, its popularity is not what it used to be, and the market is slowly leaning towards a new generation of music distribution. In the same way that MP3 shopping pushed physical CDs out of the mainstream, iTunes could be replaced by streaming services. This is also why Apple decided to acquire Beats for three billion.

According to Billboard, however, it is not just about deploying a competitor to successful services. Apple's goal "isn't to compete with Spotify, it's být music industry," says one of the participants in the negotiations between the California company and music publishers.

A new version of Beats Music could certainly lead Apple to that goal. While its service might not be the cheapest ($7,99 is up to two dollars more than competitors), it has the advantage of a huge number of already existing iTunes accounts. The figure of 800 million assigned payment cards speaks for itself.

Additionally, Billboard's report gives us hope that we could see an expansion of Apple's music offerings in the coming months. The sources talk about the show "maybe in the spring, definitely in the summer". Until then, Apple could polish iOS version 8.4, from which some foreign servers they expect just updating music apps.
