The City Council of the city of Cupertino has approved the construction of a new Apple campus that will resemble a spaceship. Cupertino mayor Orrin Mahoney gave the green light to the giant project, the first phase of the new campus should be completed in 2016…

During the final meeting of the city council, it was not discussed much, the whole event had a more ceremonial character, since it was already in October the new campus was unanimously approved. Now Mayor Mahoney just confirmed everything, saying: “We can't wait to see it. Go for it."

Apple will now receive permission to demolish the former HP campus in order to build several buildings on this site, including the main round "spaceship" with an area of ​​over 260 square meters.

As part of the agreement, Apple agreed to pay higher taxes to Cupertino, or to reduce the rebate that the Californian company receives from the city each year, from 50 to 35 percent.

Apple Campus 2 is designed to be completely environmentally friendly, therefore 80 percent of the space will be filled with greenery with 300 types of trees, fruit orchards and a central garden with dining areas. At the same time, the entire complex will use water efficiently and 70 percent will be powered by solar and fuel cells.

The first phase, which includes the aforementioned main round building, an underground parking lot with a capacity of 2 vehicles, a fitness center with an area of ​​over 400 square meters and an auditorium 9 square meters larger, should be completed during 2016. During the second phase, then Apple was to build a huge complex of office space, development centers and other parking lots and power generators.
