The China Consumer Association has called on Apple to provide full compensation to users who lost their money as a result of the theft of their iCloud accounts. The association claims that Apple is responsible for the recent security breach and warns that the Cupertino company is trying to shift the blame and distract its users.

The Californian apologized for the incident in a statement, saying that a small number of user accounts were compromised through phishing. These were accounts that did not have two-factor authentication enabled. According to the China Consumer Association, Apple placed the blame on users and victims of the attack with this statement. People whose accounts were hacked lost money from their Alipay accounts.

Apple declined to comment on the association's statement, reported by Reuters, referring to its previous statement. So far, Apple has not released any information about the exact number of victims of phishing attacks or the specific amount of financial damages, according to posts on social networks, it can be roughly hundreds of dollars.

An unspecified number of iCloud user accounts from China were recently stolen. A number of these accounts were linked to Alipay or WeChat Pay, from which the attackers stole money. As we already mentioned at the beginning of the article, accounts were apparently stolen with the help of phishing. This is most often done by the user receiving a fake e-mail in which the attackers, pretending to be Apple support, for example, ask him to enter login data.
