The well-known company Appigo, which develops software for iOS devices, announced the arrival of the popular application this morning All on the Mac OS X platform. It immediately launched the first wave of beta tests, which you can also sign up for. It did so exactly one day after competitor Cultured Code launched beta testing of cloud sync (Mac to Mac only) for the Things app.

Let's first introduce Todo itself, which you will definitely recognize from iOS. It is a time management (read To-do) application that, in my opinion, brought something to iOS devices that was missing there. In the App Store, you can find an application for both iPhone and iPad, and I dare say that I haven't found a better one in three years. Every todo client I tried had some imperfection that prevented me from taking the time I wanted. Some even go so far as to set you back €20 for an iPhone-only app!

When I discovered Todo, I immediately liked it for its nice processing, folders, tags, focus list, projects, notifications, but most of all... for cloud synchronization, which is priceless when you have more than one device you work on. Todo offers synchronization via the free Toodledo (but you won't be able to sync projects), or via the recently launched Todo Online service. I would like to stop here for a moment. For $20 you get access to the Todo web app that you can access from any web browser in the world. But why would you pay for something that doesn't sync with your other devices? Of course, Todo Online automatically synchronizes everything in the background to the servers to which you connect your iOS devices and you will quickly get the hang of cloud synchronization. You will surely say: why not Wunderlist, which is free and has a client for almost every platform. The answer is: no projects, no tags, no customization (if I don't count changing the background). I just can't rate Wunderlist as a competitor to Todo. We'll see what Wunderkit brings us, but it's not too late for a new todo client.

That was a quick description of Todo and its main advantages over the competition. Until today, however, Todo had one huge drawback, and that was the missing part in the form of a Todo client for Mac. Starting today, that changes as Appigo launches its first wave of beta tests, which the you can sign up too. The final version should be available this summer. Here are some things she should bring us:

  • cloud sync – Full support for cloud sync via Todo Online or Toodledo
  • Task Zooming – you will be able to "unpack" each task and get to its details or "package" it in a simplified form
  • Multi-Adaptive Windows – the ability to open multiple windows at the same time, which gives you the opportunity to see your focus list in one window and work on a specific task in the other
  • Multiple Task Reminders – assignment of multiple alarms to a task, which will alert you to the task at a given time
  • Smart Organization – Ability to sort by letters, contexts and tags
  • Projects & Checklists – Creating projects for more complex tasks and checklists, e.g. for a list of things to buy
  • Repeating Tasks – Setting the task to repeat at a given interval
  • + in addition – local WiFi synchronization, star marking, search, quick entry of new tasks, notes, drag-and-drop, quick transfer of tasks to another date/hour/minute
