Amazing Alex, one of the most anticipated games of recent times, has arrived in the App Store. Its creator is the Rovio studio, which is behind the popular Angry Birds, so everyone was impatiently waiting to see what the Finns would come up with. Their second game, which revolves around the inquisitive boy Alex, certainly does not offend, however, it does not offer anything fundamentally new to the world of iOS…

In Rovio, they bet on a proven model – a logical game in which you have to combine several objects and correctly time their use to achieve a certain goal. Amazing Alex is certainly not the first to build on this "mechanism"; there were, for example, before him The Incredible Machine, then maybe Where's My Water? or Cut the Rope, but that's beside the point now.

Amazing Alex doesn't try to parasitize on the successes of the aforementioned titles, which it doesn't even need to, but it wants to offer something a little different. The whole game revolves around a young boy, Alex, who has to clean up the mess around the house. But to make cleaning a little fun, he does it in a fun and witty way. Getting the ball to the basket is not just that - the path leads through shelves, books, tennis shoes, balloons, but also ropes, buckets and scissors.

Different obstacles and different tasks await you in each level. Once you have to get the bowling ball into the basket, the second time you just need to pierce the balloon with scissors or an arrow in addition to collecting all the stars. It is collecting stars that is important in Amazing Alex. Like in Cut the Rope you have three stars in each level which you collect along the way. You will get to the next level even if you don't collect all the stars, but then you won't get as many points. The individual levels are quite diverse, so in one it is easier to complete a side quest than to collect all the stars, and in another it is the opposite.

In addition, unlike the aforementioned competition, you build a large part of each level yourself, so Amazing Alex usually has a larger number of possible solutions. In addition to the already preset items, you also have several others at your disposal, which you place on the playing surface as you wish and combine to achieve the desired goal. Every now and then you'll need to add a shelf for the ball to slide down, scissors to cut the rope, or a bowling ball to activate the mechanical fist. There are a total of 35 interactive objects to choose from, while you discover more and more as you progress through the game.

You will be able to use a slingshot or a pipe in four different environments – the study, the backyard, the bedroom and the tree house together count a hundred levels, so you will be entertained for some time. My subjective feeling is that overall the levels in Amazing Alex are more challenging than, for example, the aforementioned one Cut the Rope whether Where's My Water?.

In addition, Rovio has prepared a bonus for those who have already tired of the basic levels or finished them. In Amazing Alex, you can create your own levels. You get all the available objects, add three stars, which are a requirement for each level, and you can continue playing. Additionally, you share your creations with other players, just as you can play levels created by someone else.

Overall, Rovio focused a lot on so-called "sociality" in Amazing Alex. The initial problems with connecting to Game Center were immediately resolved with the update, so everything now works as it should - not only scores are shared through Game Center, but also solutions to individual levels. If you don't know how to do something, just look at how others solved it.

Amazing Alex exists in two versions – for iPhone for 0,79 euros and for iPad 2,39 euros. Of course, the second game from Rovia was also released for Android, and versions for PC, Mac and Windows Phone are also on the way. In the end, it is enough to ask: will the Finns succeed with Amazing Alex in a similar way to Angry Birds?

...probably not, but still Amazing Alex is worth the sacrifice of a few crowns.
