Dan Pražák Press Release: The domestic number one in the field of online stores, Alza.cz, is expanding its portfolio of services to include the purchase of mobile phones against a counter account. After handing in the old device, customers can get a significant discount on the purchase of a new smartphone from the e-shop offer. At the same time, Alza wants to guarantee the best purchase conditions on the market. In the pilot phase, the service will only apply to Apple-branded phones upon check-in at the Holešovice TechZone, after evaluation it is planned to expand to other brands and branches.
By launching a new service, the largest Czech e-shop caters to all those who are thinking about buying a new smartphone and at the same time own an older but functional device purchased on Alza. From today, they can sell it back to the e-shop under very advantageous conditions and use the purchase price directly as a discount on the purchase of a new model. In the pilot phase, iPhone 6s series and higher mobile phones will be accepted. The company then thoroughly checks the purchased phones, resets them to factory settings and, in accordance with the principles of the circular economy, returns them to sale as bazaar goods.
The service is set up to bring the fairest conditions on the market. The company will buy back used but still functional smartphones at a completely unbeatable price, which will depend on the type of phone and also on the degree of its wear and tear. In the case of perfectly preserved premium models, cash back can reach up to 24 crowns.
The new service will be the first to be available from today in the TechZone in Prague-Holešovice. Every request is assessed there by a specially trained technician - he checks the condition of the phone, prices it based on the degree of wear and tear, and as soon as the purchase is complete, the customer chooses a new model on the spot (always at least CZK 200 more expensive than the purchased one). He pays the difference in price in cash or by card and immediately picks up his goods in a neighboring showroom. The whole process takes a maximum of 30 minutes. The redemption price can only be applied as a discount for the purchase of a new smartphone, it cannot be exchanged for money or used for other goods from the offer.
To make a purchase, the customer will need two valid documents for identity verification and, in the case of selling several devices at once (or if the purchase price is over CZK 5), also a proof of purchase. In the pilot phase, the e-shop will only accept fully functional iPhones purchased on Alza.cz, without significant mechanical damage (e.g. cracked screen, cover, etc.). It is not necessary to supply packaging or accessories, but this will be reflected in the final price.
When developing the new service, the company also followed the ecological aspect. People will no longer have to think about how to dispose of their old phone, where to sell it or dispose of it. They simply sell it back to Alza, where the device gets a second chance.
After the pilot phase and its evaluation, the company will gradually start adding other brands and model lines, and along with that, it will also expand the branches adapted to the purchase.
