AirPods are Apple's most popular and popular accessory. Since the start of their sales (at the end of 2016), there is still a huge interest in them and customer satisfaction with this product is breaking records (just look at the reviews on Amazon or the comments on social networks/websites, for example). There has been talk of a successor for some time now, and in the past few days a message has appeared on the website that says when we will see the upgraded versions.

I write in the plural because we should see two different products in the next two years. In the spring of next year, some kind of AirPods "1,5" should appear in the menu, i.e. headphones with wireless charging support (and maybe some other extra bonuses, such as the presence of Siri, etc.). We are the mentioned model they could see in the introductory video of this year's keynote, and Apple should start selling them sometime in the first half of next year. The announcement would thus fit the spring keynote, during which the new cheap iPads will receive their update. A completely new model with a new design will then arrive a year later, i.e. in the spring of 2020.

The above information comes from the pen of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is usually not wrong in his predictions. In addition to these, he also published information about how AirPods are sold. According to his information, it is (in terms of sales) the most successful Apple product, the popularity of which is also constantly growing. According to many indications, AirPods are used by around 5% of iOS device owners worldwide. There are roughly a billion of them, so the number of owners of wireless headphones from Apple will probably continue to grow.

AirPods with wireless charging support were expected to arrive this fall, along with the AirPower wireless charging pad. How, though we know, Apple ran into hurdles during its development that took longer to overcome than originally anticipated. The charging pad that Apple first showed at the presentation of the iPhone X could finally see a ride in a few months. It's likely that Apple is waiting for just that with the release of AirPods "1,5".
