In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.
Apple is considering extending the free version of TV+
Last year we saw the introduction of an Apple streaming platform called TV+, where you can find original content and a number of popular series for 139 crowns a month. In order to attract as many users as possible to the service, the Californian giant literally started giving it away for free. All you had to do was buy any Apple product and you automatically got a free one-year membership to the platform. But the year flew by and the first users will lose their annual subscription as early as next month.
In connection with this event, a renowned magazine made itself known Bloomberg, according to which Apple is considering extending the free membership to retain already active users for a longer period of time. Of course, it should be an extension of less than one year. But that's not all. The latest news also suggests that the Californian giant will come out with bonus material working with augmented reality, which will be exclusively enjoyed by users of the TV+ platform.
After all, the iPhone 12 will get a display with a 120Hz refresh rate
The presentation of this year's generation of Apple phones is literally just around the corner. It has been rumored for a long time that the iPhone 12 should offer a display with a higher refresh rate, but this was recently refuted by other leaks. Apple is said to have been unable to integrate this technology completely flawlessly, and a number of test devices kept failing. Currently, however, we have seen a leak of screenshots from the upcoming iPhone 12, which were shared, for example, by the well-known leaker Jon Prosser and a YouTuber EverythingApplePro. And it is these images that reveal the expected iPhone, which will offer the user a 120Hz refresh rate.
You can see all the pictures published so far in the gallery attached above. According to Jon Prosser, the screenshots come from the iPhone 12 Pro with a 6,7″ display, making it the most expensive model expected to hit the market this year. In the photos themselves, you can see a switch to activate the higher refresh rate, or 120 Hz activation, and you can still notice another switch that will be used to turn on the adaptive refresh rate. This should take care of automatic switching between the refresh rates themselves, especially in moments when, for example, an application requests a change.
Prosser went on to add that unfortunately not all models will get this feature. For now, of course, this is still speculation and we will have to wait for real information until the actual performance. In any case, Jon Prosser has been more than accurate several times in the past and was able to reveal to us, for example, the arrival of the iPhone SE, the later launch of the iPhone 12 on the market, which was subsequently confirmed by Apple itself and also hit the release date of the 13″ MacBook Pro (2020). Unfortunately, he also has some hits on his account.
This is what the iPhone 12 Pro (concept) could look like:
If you have gone through all the images attached above really properly, you certainly did not miss the mention of the LiDAR sensor. Apple has already bet on that in the case of this year's iPad Pro, where the sensor helps in the field of augmented reality and can thus perfectly render the space around the user in 3D. In the case of Apple phones, this gadget could help with automatic focus of objects and their detection in night mode.
Apple doesn't actually bundle the adapter with the phone
The last few months have brought with it a huge amount of all sorts of conjectures and leaks that are closely related to the expected iPhone 12. One of the assumptions was that Apple will not bundle a charging adapter with apple phones this year for the first time ever. Of course, many users disagreed with that. After all, when buying such an "expensive" device, the customer should receive an adapter that fulfills an elementary function for the functionality of the phone itself. But let's look at it from a slightly different angle.
X thousand Apple phones are sold annually. If the Californian giant actually removed the adapter from the packaging, it would be extremely light on the planet and thus reduce e-waste, which has increased by 5 percent in the last 21 years and unfortunately amounted to 2019 million tons in 53,6, which is just over 7 kilograms per one person. So it definitely makes sense from an ecological point of view. In addition, every apple grower has several adapters at home, so this is no problem. YouTuber EverythingApplePro boasted an interesting piece of information today. He got his hands on the graphics for the apple website, which clearly prove that the apple phone simply won't offer an adapter this year.
The attached graphic is about the iPhone 12 Pro and we can see in it that the phone is capable of wired and wireless fast charging, but the 20W adapter is sold separately.
Even faster charging
You paused at the value 20 W? If yes, then it means that you know a little about apple products. iPhones are able to "absorb" a maximum of 18 W during fast charging. The leaked graphic thus confirms, outside of the adapter, that the new Apple phones will offer 2 W faster charging. However, since the images refer to the more advanced Pro series, it is not yet clear whether the same change will also apply to the two basic models.
Apple just released iOS 13.7
A while ago, the Californian giant released a new version of the iOS operating system with the designation 13.7. This update brings with it one interesting tweak that relates to the recently released feature for Contagion Contact Notifications. Until now, individual states had to integrate this technology into their own solution. Apple growers will now be able to request to be added to the global contact database without having to download the aforementioned local application.
The iOS 13.7 operating system is available for all devices and you can download it in the classic way. You simply need to open it Settings, go to category In general, choose System update and install the update.
About the adapter:
What about new users who haven't had an iPhone and it's new to them, does Apple care?
After all, iOS 14 is much closer to Android and I believe that many people from Android will switch to iOS 14 and Apple is obviously targeting this group, so at least this year they could still leave the charging adapter in the package.
Please show us, for example, a European who does not have a single adapter at home. Of course we would find such a person, but let's ask ourselves a question. Would this person buy a new iPhone? And even if it were, it wouldn't be a problem to buy an adapter that will serve you for several more years (and it doesn't even have to be an original from Apple, so no one is stopping anyone from reaching for a cheaper alternative).
It's all about the costs they hide behind "ecology". Specifically, the charger is never extra, and the argument about uselessness is odd. We all know it, I have one by the bed, the other in the living room, the third at work, then one for travel, sometimes the cable flies. I just want a new charger for every new device.
Well, I don't really have a free adapter with USB-C at home...
When you convince yourself that it is not a problem to buy something related to the basic functionality of the goods, then soon you will be "buying" extra wheels for your car, button for your pants, laces for your shoes, keys for your keyboard, cable for your mouse, and gradually you won't even notice , what a "gut" they made of you in the name of achieving a higher profit. It's not about anything else. Relieving the planet is just a slogan for naive customers to enjoy being able to "pay extra". I'm old enough to be naive. Warmly.
What is this nonsense? As if a person with Android doesn't have a USB adapter at home these days? It always takes a long time, even with stupid shoes, and in general, today, to some kind of break.
A person who has not bothered with a USB adapter until now (that is, avoided all electronics) will definitely not buy a new iPhone.
I don't really have a free adapter 20W with USB-C...
I have one adapter at home, and with the purchase of a new phone, it will go from home with the old phone. And the iPhone 12 is one of the candidates to replace the current phone, so yes, such people exist ;-)
Now imagine that the parents buy a new phone for their child for Christmas and they are happy at first, but then they have to wait 3 days before the stores open so they can charge their new phone.
But not USB-C
I just won't buy the phone without the adapter :)
The USB-C will be a bit of a problem. I only have one such adapter at home. In the solo, Apple will certainly offer it to me additionally for an unattractive amount. USB-C is definitely the way to go, but most new users will still need to purchase an adapter. And to think that I can charge everything at home with one adapter is stupid. I've been buying iPhones etc. since 2009. In order to have an acceptable charge with the endurance of all devices, I run my device on 3 sources and that's not talking about my wife :D
I have an iPhone and now I received an iPhone 12pro from the company and I find out that I can't charge it with the same adapter, there is a different end... and now I have to wait for the stores to open:-( Can anyone help me? In addition to buying through the eshop.
