In recent years, you could hardly find a more popular player than VLC. After all, its success is also proven by the latest figures, when the video player reached 3 billion downloads in the past week. The information was spectacularly announced by developers from VideoLAN at the CES trade fair in Las Vegas. And as a celebration for conquering this milestone, they prepared a novelty in the form of support for the AirPlay function in the Android version.
The popularity of VLC and the associated crossing of three billion downloads, a quarter of which came from mobile devices, is not really surprising. The player offers a number of indisputable advantages – it is available on almost all platforms, completely free, without ads and supports a wide range of video formats. In addition, developers are constantly trying to implement the latest features into the player. Not long ago, VLC received support for the AV1 format (the successor to VP9 and a competitor to HEVC) and will soon also offer AirPlay in the Android version.
Just the support of Apple AirPlay for Android was announced by Jean-Baptiste Kempf, head of VideoLAN and one of the main developers of VLC, who magazine Variety revealed that they will implement the feature in the player in about a month.
Thanks to AirPlay, it will be possible to stream movies and series from Android smartphones and tablets to Apple TV. What's more, Android users will be able to mirror the image to selected models TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio, which have recently received AirPlay 2 support. The only question remains whether VLC will offer the original AirPlay or the newer AirPlay 2.
Kempf also hinted at CES that VLC will soon offer improved support for virtual reality videos. Although the player will support all major VR headsets, VideoLan did not want to rely on third-party SKDs for this. After their implementation, VLC would swell by hundreds of megabytes of code, but thanks to its own solution, the total size of the application increased by only about 1 MB.
Boys and girls and everyone who likes applesauce. Soon, a device will come from Samsung that will sink Apple forever. Apple is already losing time and design is no longer good for it either. So open the last jar of applesauce to say goodbye, it's finally here. :*
He didn't think about it anymore, and in the morning - it clouds your mind...
That's perfectly fine, fear causes this feeling you're experiencing right now, but it will pass :) maybe not right away, but one day you'll come to terms with it. One is always afraid of new things, that is probably Apple's motto, especially nothing new! :D … When Apple discovered wireless charging, the world already had a flexible display :) if Apple survives until it shows its flexible display, the world will no longer use displays and holograms will be everywhere :D … Just apple compote ;*
The world doesn't have a flexible display, etc... but I'm at peace and I definitely don't need to spread wisdom like you :-D
I wonder in vain what it could be :D How do you want to ergonomically design the touch pad in a completely different way? Different corner radius? :D Otherwise, of course, if you have this trusted verified secret behind-the-scenes information - here it is! Within two or three years it will be a usable technology at Apple. As with everything.
