Apple announced iOS 15 in June at WWDC 2021 with many new features, including real-time media sharing in FaceTim, redesigned Safari, Focus mode and more. Although iOS 15 is already available to all users, it still does not include some of the announced features. Apple did not have time to debug them and we will only encounter them in future updates - anthis is not an extraordinary situation. Apple wants to impress as many new products as possible at WWDC, but only when they are tested among developers will they find out that the functions do not work as they should and that they will not have time to debug them by the end of the test cycle. So it will remove them from the final version and bring them only with later updates. In the case of iOS 15, this affected 8 functions.

shareplay

Unfortunately, one of them is SharePlay, one of the key features of iOS 15. It allows users to share a song, a video or even the device screen itself with other users through a FaceTime call. This was the very first feature that Apple introduced at WWDC21 and has been available to developers since the first beta version. However, after the release of iOS 6 beta 15, the company confirmed that the SharePlay service had been disabled and was no longer subject to testing. Apple isn't even giving reasons for the feature's delay, but it's asking developers to remove the feature from their apps if they plan to update to iOS 15 before the feature is officially available.

Universal control

A feature called Universal Control caused the biggest stir at WWDC21 and rightly became the next most anticipated new feature. It enables control of the iPad directly from a Mac with macOS 12 Monterey, i.e. its keyboard and trackpad. But not only is the feature not available in iOS 15, it wasn't actually available for any kind of testing. It is a big question when and if we will see it at all.

Passes in the wallet

iOS 15 adds support for ID cards such as ID or driver's license in the Wallet app. When the feature becomes available, users will be able to save documents to iPhones with iOS 15 without having to physically carry them around. However, this feature is not part of the first release of iOS 15 and may leave us cold also because support will only be present for the US territory. However, this feature was not present in any beta testing either. However, Apple confirmed that it should arrive before the end of this year.

App Privacy Report

Apple continues to add more privacy controls to its mobile operating system, when iOS 15 was also supposed to come with a new privacy notice in apps. In it, you should learn all the details about what data the application collects about you. But you won't know them yet, because this option will come sometime in the future.

Custom email domain

Apple on its own website quietly confirmed that users will indeed be able to use their own domains to customize iCloud email addresses. The new option should also work with family members via Family Sharing on iCloud. But since the extension of the iCloud+ function will not come until later this year, even this option is not yet available within iOS 15.

Detailed 3D navigation in CarPlay

In iOS 15, Apple drastically improved the Maps application, which now includes not only, for example, a 3D interactive globe, but also improved search, various guides, details of selected buildings and, last but not least, detailed 3D navigation. Although you can already use it in the app on the iPhone, this is not the case with CarPlay. Again, this feature should arrive "sometime later". In this case, it is necessary to mention that detailed 3D navigation will be available only in some selected cities of large states.

Referred contacts

The so-called Legacy Contacts feature was available to iOS 15 beta users until its fourth release, but was removed after that. However, Apple is counting on it because it keeps saying that it will come in a future update. And what is it really about? In your Apple ID, you'll be able to set up contacts who will have access to your device in the event of your death. So it's clear that there's a big user privacy issue here, and Apple is figuring out how to make sure that your contact doesn't get into your device, even if you're not actually dead.

Find and support for AirPods

Similar to AirTag, iOS 15 is supposed to use Bluetooth technology to precisely locate AirPods Pro and Max when you're near them but don't know exactly where they are. Of course, this feature should also show the location of the AirPods on the map, even when the headphones are not connected to your iPhone or iPad. We will see you as soon as possible.
