Apple's smartwatches have made huge strides forward since the release of the first generation. From a device that many perceived primarily as a kind of "extended hand of the iPhone", over time it became a useful helper for productivity, fitness, health and many other areas. In today's article, we're going to introduce you to 7 things you might not have known your Apple Watch could do.

iPhone camera driver

Many users forget that they can use their Apple Watch as a remote control when taking photos or filming with an iPhone. Just launch the Camera app on your Apple Watch. By tapping the three dots at the bottom right, you can set details such as the flash or choosing between the front or back camera.

Apple TV control

Similar to the iPhone camera, you can also control playback on the Apple TC using your Apple Watch. So if you don't have a classic Apple TV remote at hand, you can take control literally from your wrist. All you have to do is launch the app called Driver on your Apple Watch.

Music recognition

You can use not only your iPhone, but also your Apple Watch to recognize the currently playing track. All you have to do is activate the Siri voice assistant on them in the usual way, and then ask a question like "What song is this?" or "What song is playing right now?".

Viewing photos

Due to its size, the Apple Watch display does not primarily encourage viewing photos, but that does not mean that it is not possible. For example, if you need to quickly view recent photos from your iPhone on your Apple Watch, launch native Photos on it and enjoy. Synchronization and other details about displaying photos on the Apple Watch are set up on the paired iPhone in the native Wathc app, where you tap Photos and customize everything you need.

Screenshots

Especially if you're a new Apple Watch owner, you may have been unaware that you can also take screenshots of your Apple Watch's display. These screenshots are then automatically saved to your iPhone's photo gallery. To activate screenshots, go to Settings -> General -> Screenshots on your Apple Watch, where you only need to activate the Turn on screenshots item. You can take the screenshot by pressing the digital crown and the side button of the watch at the same time.

Automatic installation of applications

Many of the apps you have on your iPhone also offer their watchOS version. However, not all applications will actually use their version for Apple Watch, and the automatic installation of watchOS versions of these applications causes unnecessary use of storage space on your watch. To disable automatic app installation, launch the Watch app on your paired iPhone and tap My Watch at the bottom of the screen. Choose General, and finally disable the Automatic installation of applications here.

Fall detection

The Apple Watch, since the release of the Apple Watch Series 4, has, among other things, also offered a useful feature called Fall Detection. For example, if you fall and injure yourself or become unconscious, your watch can call for help. However, users under the age of 65 must activate this function manually. On your Apple Watch, go to Settings -> SOS. Tap on Fall Detection and then just activate the relevant feature.
