Believe it or not, today is already one whole week since Apple came out with new products at its first conference of the year. Just for a quick reminder, we saw the introduction of the AirTag tracking tag, the next generation Apple TV, the redesigned iMac and the improved iPad Pro. Each of us may have a different opinion on these individual products, as each of us is different and each of us uses technology differently. In the case of AirTags, I feel like they get a huge amount of criticism and often even hate. But I personally perceive apple pendants as the best product of the four that Apple recently introduced. Let's take a look together below at 5 interesting things about AirTags that aren't talked about much.

16 per Apple ID

If you are one of our loyal readers, then you have surely not missed the fact that you can buy AirTags either individually or in a convenient pack of four. If you reach for a single AirTag, you will pay 890 crowns, in the case of a package of four, you must prepare 2 crowns. But the truth is that during the presentation, Apple did not state how many AirTags you can have at most. It might seem like you could have practically an infinite number of them. However, the opposite is true, as you can have a maximum of 990 AirTags per Apple ID. Whether it's too much or too little, I'll leave that up to you. Even in this case, keep in mind that each of us can use AirTags in completely different ways and to track different things.

How does it actually work?

Despite the fact that we have already explained how AirTags work a few times in our magazine, questions about this topic constantly appear in the comments and in general on the Internet. However, repetition is the mother of wisdom, and if you want to find out how AirTags work, read on. AirTags are part of the Find service network, which consists of all iPhones and iPads in the world - i.e. hundreds of millions of devices. In lost mode, AirTags emit a Bluetooth signal that other nearby devices receive, send it to iCloud, and from there the information reaches your device. Thanks to this, you can then see where your AirTag is located, even if you are on the other side of the globe. All it takes is for someone with an iPhone or iPad to pass by the AirTag.

Low battery warning

For a long time before the AirTags were released, there was speculation about how the battery would fare. Many individuals were concerned that the battery in the AirTags would not be replaceable, similar to the AirPods. Fortunately, the opposite turned out to be true, and AirTags have a replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery, which you can buy practically anywhere for a few crowns. It is generally stated that in the AirTag this battery will last about one year. However, it would definitely be unpleasant if you lost your AirTag object and the battery in it ran out on purpose. The good news is that this won't happen - the iPhone will let you know in advance that the battery inside the AirTag is dead, so you can easily replace it.

Sharing AirTags with family and friends

Some things are shared in a family - for example, car keys. If you equip your car keys with an AirTag and lend them to a family member, friend or anyone else, an alarm will automatically sound and the user in question will be notified that they have an AirTag that does not belong to them. Fortunately, in this case you can use family sharing. So if you lend your AirTag to a family member you have added in family sharing, you can deactivate the warning notification. If you decide to lend an item with AirTag to a friend or someone outside of family sharing, you can deactivate the notification individually, which is definitely handy.

Lost Mode and NFC

We mentioned above how the AirTags tracking works if you move away from them. If by chance you lose your AirTag object, you can activate the previously mentioned loss mode on it, during which the AirTag will start transmitting a Bluetooth signal. If someone happens to be faster than you and finds the AirTag, they can quickly identify it using NFC, which is available in virtually all smartphones these days. It will simply be enough for the person in question to hold their phone to the AirTag, which will immediately display information, contact details or a message of your choice.
