While it may seem improbable, using a calendar from a rival company on Apple phones makes sense, one could even say that the Californian company has been outdone by Google in many ways. In today's article, we're going to focus on Google Calendar and show you features you may not have known about.

Synchronization of events from Gmail

If you use the Google email address as your primary email address, you probably use it to make restaurant reservations, plane tickets or seats. However, different actions accumulate and it is not exactly comfortable to create events all the time. But Google Calendar offers a convenient solution. In the app, tap on the top left menu icon, go to Settings and select Events from Gmail. For all calendars (de)activate switch Add events from Gmail, a set their visibility, while offering you options Only me, Private a Default calendar visibility.

Sharing your calendar with others

If you need to plan events with family, friends or a company, it is a good idea to use a shared calendar. In your family, it's very likely that you have Apple's built-in Family Sharing enabled, but this may not be the best solution for everyone, and it's useless when someone in the family doesn't own an Apple product. So to share your calendar, move to Google Calendar pages, expand the section on the left my calendars place the cursor on the required calendar and then unclick more options icon. Select here Settings and sharing, and in the section Share with specific people click on Add people. Enter email addresses if you want to modify permission settings and then confirm everything with the button Send. The recipient will receive an invitation that they will have to confirm.

Adding comments

You can create reminders in Google Calendar really easily. These will also be shared with others if you add them to the correct calendar. First tap on icon to create an event, subsequently on Reminder a enter the reminder text. Then set the date (de)activate switch Daylong a select whether to repeat the reminder. Finally tap on Impose.

Setting the default event length

When creating events, you don't always have time to send invitations or set the duration, but you can change the default duration of the event. In the top left, click on menu icon, next move to Settings and after clicking the section In general find Default event duration. You can change it separately for each calendar, you have a choice of options No end time, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes a 120 minutes.

Sending a mass email to all invitees

If you can't make it to an event that you've been invited to in Google Calendar, it's fairly easy to mark absent. On the other hand, it is sometimes useful to give a reason why you will not arrive, or for example that you will arrive later. In the application from Google, you can send an e-mail message to all invitees in just a few steps. Open the required event, click on Further action and then on Send email to guests. An e-mail application will open here, through which you can send the message.
