Background updates

The vast majority of apps update their content in the background. Thanks to this, you are sure that every time you open the application, you will see the latest possible content, i.e., for example, posts on social networks, etc. However, as we can tell from the name, this function works in the background, so it uses hardware resources, which can mainly iPhones cause slowdowns. For this reason, it is worthwhile to limit background updates for some applications, or turn them off completely. You do so in Settings → General → Background Updates.

Application data

In order for your iPhone to work as quickly as possible, it is necessary that it has enough free space in the storage. While users of newer iPhones probably won't have a problem with it, Apple users using older Apple phones, which basically also have smaller storage, can easily run into problems these days. You can free up storage space in a variety of ways, such as deleting app data. The easiest way to do this is in Safari, when you just go to Settings → Safari and tap on Delete site history and data. This option is also available in many other applications and browsers, but you can find it directly in the application preferences.

Animations and effects

When using an iPhone, you can notice all kinds of animations and effects that can be found at almost every corner. Animations and effects make iOS look good, however, rendering uses hardware resources, which can slow down older iPhones. But the good news is that users can limit the animations and effects, which will instantly speed up the system. You can do so simply in Settings → Accessibility → Motion, where activate Limit movement.

Downloading updates

If you want to be as safe as possible when using your iPhone, it is necessary that you have the latest version of the iOS operating system and all applications installed. By default, iOS and app updates download automatically in the background, but this can slow down the system in terms of background activity, especially on older iPhones. If you're willing to manually check for iOS and app updates, you can disable automatic background downloads. In the case of iOS, you can do so simply in Settings → General → Software Update → Automatic Update, in the case of applications then in Settings → App Store, where in the category Turn off automatic downloads function Update applications.

Transparency

In addition to the fact that you can notice animations and effects when using the iPhone, the effect of transparency can also be observed in various places - just move to the control or notification center, for example. However, rendering this effect actually requires processing power to process "two screens", one of which must be blurred in the background. This can cause the system to slow down, especially on older iPhones due to the greater demands on the hardware. However, even transparency can be simply deactivated, in Settings → Accessibility → Display and text size, where turn on function Reducing transparency.
