The iPad is a great tool for work, play and creativity. A number of its especially new owners use only its basic functions, without revealing the full potential of the apple tablet. In today's article, we will look at a few seemingly small things that will make using the iPad even more convenient, efficient and fun for (not only) beginners.

Split View for better multitasking

Multitasking is a feature that Apple often highlights in its iPad. For multitasking purposes, the iPad has a number of functions, one of which is Split View. This feature allows you to work in two applications side by side. To activate the Split View function, first open any application. Then swipe up from the bottom of the screen to activate the Dock, long-press the other app icon and drag it to the side of the screen.

Tuned Dock

The iPadOS operating system offers a number of options when it comes to working with the Dock. For example, in Settings -> Desktop and Dock, you can set recommended and recently used applications to appear in the Dock. What's more, the Dock on your iPad can hold more app and folder icons than the iPhone, so you can fully customize it to suit you. You place the icon in the Dock by simply dragging it, and you can remove it from the Dock in the same way.

Play with the keyboard

The keyboard on the iPad offers rich customization options. Pinch with two fingers to reduce the size of the keyboard and then you can move it freely around the iPad display, open with two fingers to return to the normal view. If you long-press the keyboard icon in the lower right corner, you will see a menu from which you can switch to a floating or split keyboard.

Write notes from the lock screen

If you also use Apple Pencil with your iPad and often work in native Notes, you can activate a feature on your Apple tablet that will automatically open Notes when you tap the Apple Pencil on the iPad's lock screen, while keeping the rest of your iPad content safe. To activate this feature, go to Settings -> Notes and tap Lock Screen Access at the very bottom. After that, all you have to do is choose what action will happen when you tap the Apple Pencil.

Make the most of Spotlight

Just like on a Mac, you can use a powerful and versatile search tool called Spotlight on your iPad. With its help, you can easily and quickly search for practically anything. Just swipe down on the iPad screen and enter the desired expression. Spollight can display search results on the internet and on your iPad, you can use it to convert units or currencies, and you'll always see Siri suggestions below the search box. You can turn these off in Settings -> Siri and search, where you disable Search suggestions.
