The voice virtual assistant Siri has been part of the macOS operating system for many years. Although we are still waiting in vain for its Czech version, there are many things that can be done with Siri on macOS. Today we're going to take a look at how Siri on Mac can save you time and work by doing some things for you.

Launching the application

Most users are certainly aware of the possibility of launching an application via Siri on Mac, but just to be sure, we also mention this point here. To launch an app or utility using Siri on your Mac, say "Launch [app name]." But you can also use Siri to search, for example by saying "Google [required term]".

Scheduling meetings and events

You don't necessarily need to run the native Calendar on your Mac to schedule your next meeting. Just give Siri the right command - for example "Hey Siri, schedule a meeting with XY for tomorrow [exact time]". If you don't dare to say all the data in one command, nothing happens. Just say "Hey Siri, schedule a meeting," and wait for Siri to ask you more detailed questions.

Start timer

If you use the pomodoro technique for better productivity and concentration, you will surely be pleased that - if you can do with the absolute basics - you don't need to download any special applications for these purposes. Just say to Siri "Set the timer for XY minutes" and once the focus time limit is up, you can set the time limit for timeout in the same way. Siri will then alert you when the time limit has expired via Reminders.

Note taking and list making

You can also use Siri on Mac to take notes in the corresponding native application - unfortunately, it is still true that we can forget about Czech in this regard. But if you don't have problems writing or dictating notes in English, there is nothing easier than activating Siri on your Mac and saying the command "Hey Siri, not that [note text]".

Phone calls, messages and emails

Siri can also dial the number of a selected person from your contacts, send someone a message or write an email for you. In the case of writing e-mails and text messages, there is again, unfortunately, a language barrier, as far as Czech is concerned. Say "Call XY" to start a phone call, "Send a message to XY and say XX" to send a message.
