Many users use various third-party applications to work with image files or PDF documents. In many ways, however, the native Preview, which is unfortunately often unfairly overlooked, can handle this content very well. In today's article, we will introduce you to five tricks that may convince you of the usefulness of Preview for Mac.

Editing multiple files at once

For example, you can use the Finder on your Mac to bulk edit compatible files. Want to enlarge or reduce multiple images at once? First, highlight them in the Finder. Then right click on the selection and select Open in the Preview app. Then all the files in the Preview itself mark in the left column and on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, choose Tools -> Adjust Size. After that, you only need to enter the required parameters.

Adding a signature

You can also add a "handwritten" signature to PDF documents in native Preview on your Mac. First, launch the Finder and then the toolbar at the top of the Preview window click on annotations icon and then click on signature icon. Choose how you want to add a signature and follow the on-screen instructions.

File conversion

You can also use native Preview on your Mac to convert files from one format to another. First, open the file you want to convert in Preview. Then, on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, click File -> Export. In menu, which will be displayed to you, then just select the desired file format.

Password protect files

Do you have a file on your Mac that you would like to password protect against unwanted opening? You can do so in the native Preview. First, open the file in Preview, then click on the toolbar at the top of the screen File -> Export as PDF. At the bottom of the window, click show details, check the option Encryption and enter the password.

Create a new file from the clipboard

If you have copied any image to the clipboard on your Mac, you can easily and quickly create a new file from it in the native Preview. Just click on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen File -> New from Clipboard, or you can use a keyboard shortcut for this purpose Command + FEMALE.
