With the arrival of iOS 14, we saw many new features. Some of these features are now used every day – for example, the new redesigned widgets and the App Library. Unfortunately, some others have been somewhat neglected, which is definitely a shame. However, I decided to change that in this article, in which we will take a look at 5 cool features from iOS 14 that are not talked about much and you should know about them.

Exact location

Certain apps or websites may ask you to track your current location. While some applications, such as navigation ones, need to know your exact location, many other applications just need to know what city you are in - in this case, I mean Weather. Apple also thought of this and added a function to iOS 14 that allows you to set whether you provide the application with your exact location or only an approximate one. For settings go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services, where you click on a specific application below. After that, that's enough for her (de)activate switch Exact location.

Sound recognition

As part of iOS 14, Apple also focused heavily on new features from Accessibility. The functions from this section are primarily intended for users who are disabled in some way, but the truth is that they can often be used by normal users as well. In this case, we can mention, for example, sound recognition. Thanks to this feature, you can set certain sounds that your iPhone should alert you to. If the apple phone then recognizes a certain sound, you will receive a notification. As you can already guess, this is a great feature especially for deaf users. However, if you are just starting to have hearing problems, or if you often concentrate so much that you don't notice your surroundings, the function you activate v Settings -> Accessibility -> Sound recognition. Here, after activation, choose below, on what sounds you want to be notified.

Camera and differences

With the arrival of the iPhone 11, Apple finally improved the native Camera app, which for several long years was practically identical and did not offer nearly as many features as the competition. However, if you thought that all Apple phones received the redesigned Camera, then unfortunately I have to disappoint you. At first, the new Camera app was only available on iPhone 11 and later, with the arrival of iOS 14, Apple decided to add the new version to the iPhone XS. So if you want to enjoy the new Camera, you must have an iPhone XS and later with iOS 14 and later. In the new version of the Camera, you can find, for example, options to adjust the resolution and FPS of the video, change the aspect ratio and more.

Hide album Hidden

Among other things, the native Photos application also includes the Hidden album. You can easily add photos to this album that you don't want to display in the Photo Library. However, until recently, the problem was that the Skryto album was not protected in any way. Unfortunately, this is not the case until today, in any case, we can at least set the Hidden album to not be displayed in the Photos application at all. It would be easier if we could lock the said album using, for example, Touch ID or Face ID, or using a code lock, but we have to work with what we have. To hide the Hidden album, go to Settings -> Photos, where you disable the option Album Hidden.

Access to photos

Apple is one of the few companies that cares about your privacy and security. That's why it's constantly adding features to its operating systems that make you feel even more protected, and thanks to which you can sleep even more soundly. One of these functions is also the ability to assign photos to which a certain application will have access. In the past, you could give the app access to all or none of your photos - now, among other things, you can choose certain photos that the app can work with. The option to select photos will appear the first time the application is launched, when a request for access to photos is displayed. Later, access to photos can be managed in Settings -> Privacy -> Photos, where you select a specific application, check it selected photos, and then tap on Edit photo selection. Then select the photo and click on the top right All done.
