The Apple company has a really decent line of achievements, merits, and great products and services. As with any other company, a number of different scandals and affairs are also associated with Apple. In today's article, we will recall five apple scandals that were indelibly written in history.

Antennagate

In the past, we also mentioned the affair called Antennagate on the website of Jablíčkára. Its beginning dates back to June 2010, when the then new iPhone 4 saw the light of day. Among other things, this model was equipped with an external antenna located around its perimeter, and it was in this antenna that the famous buried dog rested. In fact, with a certain way of holding the iPhone 4, some users experienced signal dropouts during phone calls. Steve Jobs, who was at the head of the company at the time. advised users to simply hold the phone in a different way. But the "let them eat cake" style response wasn't enough for outraged users, and Apple eventually resolved the whole affair by offering affected iPhone 4 owners a free bumper cover.

Bendgate

The Bendgate affair is slightly younger than the aforementioned Antennagate, and was related to the long and eagerly awaited iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus respectively. This model was significantly thinner and larger than its predecessors, and under certain conditions its body would bend and permanently damage the phone - a problem pointed out by YouTube channel Unbox Therapy, for example. Apple initially responded to the affair by saying that iPhone 6 Plus bending was "a very rare occurrence" and offered to replace the damaged models. At the same time, he also promised to make sure that future models no longer have a tendency to bend.

Tax scandals in Ireland

In 2016, Apple was accused of taking advantage of illegal tax breaks in Ireland between 2003 and 2014, for which it was fined €13 billion. The court proceedings dragged on for quite a long time, but the highest court of the European Union finally decided that the European Commission failed to prove the unauthorized use of the aforementioned reliefs.

touch Disease

Bendgate wasn't the only scandal involving the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. On some models, users have also reported a flickering gray bar at the top of the display, sometimes the display of these models has become completely unresponsive. Although Apple refused to acknowledge that it could be a manufacturing defect, it tried to accommodate users by at least significantly reducing the price for fixing this problem.

Unsuitable conditions in factories

Unsatisfactory conditions with Foxconn-type suppliers are resolved quite often. In 2011, for example, there was an explosion in one of Foxconn's factories that killed three workers. Desperate working conditions also resulted in fourteen employee suicides in 2010. Undercover journalists were able to obtain evidence of mandatory and excessive overtime, substandard working conditions and an overall stressful, exhausting atmosphere in the factories, and even child labor. In addition to Foxconn, these scandals were connected with, for example, Pegatron, but Apple recently let it be known that it has the working conditions of its suppliers carefully and regularly checked.
